so does anyone know when the Ott GM is being fired?? how the heck did he trade this kid? Zib looked like everything we have been asking for for years now. Big fast skilled center. Kreider looked a lot better as well. He looked really confident last night which is what he needs to do.
McIlrath had a mixed game for me. He struggled in the first with some lapses in position which I think contributed to the 1st Islanders goal. I love what he brings to the team but I am very doubtful that AV will play him over a vet like Holden. we all know how much AV loves vets over younger players.
For Trouba, unless they are willing to take McIlrath, Graves, and maybe Miller. I walk away. McD or Skjei are non starters for me.
Lastly, I am afraid for G this year. He did not look good. Staal looked a bit better but G looked like he was struggling with the same issues he had last year. hopefully it was just some rust, but we may have a problem if he continues to play poorly. |

Lets not forget how good a player Brassard is, esp in the playoffs, before we start calling the trade a landslide. |

Well its not like they got a scrub in Brassard. They got our 2nd highest point producer last year. With that said, I was thrilled with the trade and Brass was the 1st forward I wanted to see traded. Think the additional 2nd was overpayment, but good on Gorton. |

I REALLY like what I saw of Clendening on the Power Play. Kid can really dish the puck around. Also... We have us a sudo Ovi on the PP in Mika!! Can't wait to see that in action come the regular season. |

with Mika Zibinajed, JT Miller, Niklas Jensen, Adam Clendening and Magnus Hellberg, NYR have 5 of the first 38 picks in the 2011 draft |

Clendening definitely made a very good impression last night. By far the best defenseman out there, by a long way. |

Mika will hopefully have a great year for you guys... He was underappreciated in Ottawa partly because he always came to camp out of shape. Looks like he finally got his head straight and worked out this summer. We gave up the better player in my opinion but, Brassard being a left shot center is more of an advantage for Ottawa. Zibanejad was behind Turris and playing with Ryan who is also a right shot. It was difficult for Zib to properly distribute the puck to Ryan in scoring areas. So hopefully the trade works for both Ziband for Brass. |

yes Ottawa got a very good player and an important playoff player in Brassard, but he just turned 29 years old.
It's amazing we got a 23 year old on the cusp of being a 30 goal/60 point player along with a 2nd round pick.

I agree, Brass came through in the clutch. But MZ looks like a stud, younger with more upside than Brass, not that he was that old. 1 pre season game, but I loved him last night. |

Yeah, the age of Brassard was why I was a bit shocked with the 2nd. Honestly thought it should have been reversed. |

from what I heard speculated is that it was supposed to be just straight up Zibinajed for Brassard, but Ottawa didn't want to pay Brass big bonus he was due on July 15th, so the Rangers paid it and they insisted on the 2nd round pick to do so. |

Ottawa probably won't be needing an important playoff player
That 2nd rounder was pure bonus. |
