I was not raised on pop. I was raised on classic rock, and I didn't start finding my own music until the earl 90s. So I was never really into Prince. I just didn't know his music.
Of course, the day after he died, all of the tributes started coming out, and one thing people talked about was what an amazing guitarist he was, possibly one of the best in the world.
So, for the first 30+ years of my life, why did no one ever include him in their top xx guitarists of all time list? After knowing this, I would have liked to have seen him. Sure, I still don't think he has more than maybe 8-10 really good songs, but if he's that great, I think he should have been recognized more often in recent years. Or maybe people just went a bit too far in their praise the day after it happened. - jmatchett383
Huh, I've always seen him mentioned, but I've always been a fan so was probably checking to make sure he wasn't unduly snubbed. lol
If tl;dw just skip to 3:25 when he comes out
I won't clog the board with others but if you're inclined, google his Superbowl halftime show and his American Woman with Lenny Kravitz.
So, you've finally heard the Revolution Calling? Welcome aboard. Just in time to enjoy their renaissance with a new singer who's not gone bonkers in the head. - Flyskippy
lol, I guess so. Only listened once so far so don't have the songs committed to memory

It's cool. I got into them in 1990-91 at college. Just before Empire released, a friend lent me Operation: Mindcrime. Been a fan since -- except for Q2k through Dedicated to Chaos. Skipped Frequency Unknown altogether since that's just Bonkers the singer.

lol...did some reading on them and yeah, kind of nutty that there are two of them now. My plan is to enjoy Empire and get Operation: Mindcrime (which I sampled on iTunes and is also really good). If I'm still interested I'll probably work backwards a little bit, before moving forward.

That is how I did it. Rage for Order is also excellent.

That's pretty damn good. I remember my mom watching that, seeing Tom Petty's face, exclaiming, "My God, Tom Petty looks like a pasty ghoul!" and leaving the room.
Prince aka #33 on Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists - YuenglingJagr
According to legend, once he became "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince," he made his wife refer to him by that name.
Also, he once reportedly asked Carson Daly to his house. He showed up, Prince called for a limo to pick them up at the front of the house. They get in, Prince plays some music for Carson Daly and asks him what he thought of it. They then get out of the limo, which hasn't moved an inch, and he wishes Carson Daly a good night and goes inside.

Oh he definitely didn't have all his marbles. But then again most people who excel at something are insane.

You should listen to Kevin Smith's take on shooting a Documentary for one of Prince's album releases. It's funny and completely crazy.
