Sometimes I hear Rush and say how the hell is that only 3 guys even live which I've seen them about 10 times.

Queensryche really nailed it with Empire and Operation Mindcrime.
Both versions of the band right now are sort of annoying.

I go Styx over Rush, I think I go Porcupine Tree over Rush ..

Go flyers! (i got nothing else, 4 hour conf call is dragging on)

Most of Rush is definitely prog-rock which Styx most definitely is not. But Rush does have some shorter, radio-friendly tunes where I guess you can find similarities.
- Scoob

The designation might be subjective, but I think Styx is considered a progressive rock group by a lot of people.

Not Rush, Dream Theater.
- jmatchett383

I know that. But Neal Peart is the same, imho. So mechanical, trying to be so perfect, that the music has no feeling.

I get that each musician, individually, is incredibly talented at playing their instrument. But golly gee, they're so concerned with showing how technical they can be and using weird timings that the music is just not enjoyable from a pure listening perspective.

Yes, that's why they get tiresome after an album. I don't have all day Dream Theater listening sessions.

Another tiresome band, but kicked up a few notches is Primus. We get it, Claypool, you're oh so funky on the bass. Give it a franking rest already. After listening to two songs I've had my fill for a long while. lol

Early Styx maybe but once Tommy Shaw joined they became "arena rock" imho.

Off topic: Queensrÿche

What rock have I been living under? I vaguely remember hearing the name but never paid attention to them. I heard Empire for the first time ever the other day. Wow!

You know what? I both really like and dislike them. I like them because honestly, they're really good. But their singer creeps me out the way he sings. I can't explain it, but when I hear him sing, it just makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Never did it for me, but I know a lot of people are into them.

Oh, and this is for all of you "classic rock" guys but especially BiggE:

Styx > Rush

Come Sail Away, who, for years, I always thought was Rush, is better than every song Rush has ever written.

It had to be said.

I like that song by Styx, but I liked it even more when Eric Cartman did it.

It's subjective and it's a good song, but not better than Subdivisions, Spirit of Radio, or Limelight. IMO

Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" (featuring Rebecca Black) is awesome. Kenny G and Hansen make appearances.

Tonight it's basically the Phantoms plus a few Flyers. I don't know if it's a rule or just common sense, but the World Cup guys won't play till October.

Bellemare and Streit may only play one preseason game.

- Feanor

Saad and Jones were playing Monday night for Columbus. I couldn't believe why our guys can't play until Saturday at the earliest.
