You're probably right, he's young a year in the AHL won't hurt his development....but I am looking forward to seeing him.

We have to have one Parayko type in our system. One D man that works out better than expected....when is the last time that has happened for the Leafs?

I bet Matthews is not on the 3rd line to start the season.. Just sayin.

I predict he takes the opening faceoff to start the season.

At first, I thought he was a bust.

Then I was surprised and thought he'd be a decent 2nd line center... 50ish points per season guy.

Now I'm not so sure he can be that guy, or at least the guy I'd want fulfilling that role on my team.

If you see him as a great 3rd line center who can fill in on your top 6? He's great!

This is still my expectation. A new season without being snake bit for the first 20 games, and being more comfortable with the defensive commitments he's made to his game, linemates better than Parenteau and Komarov will help him settle into this role and excel there.

Not bad James, Sosh or Leivo the 13th forward? Or Greening?

and Stralman and Gunnarsson.

Well, not necessarily for the Leafs, and the other nowhere near as good as Parayko, but still low D draft picks that turned out much better than expected.

Then I like them. We have talked about this before. I just think Matthews is far better than any of us suspected.

He definitely looked better than I expected playing for TNA

Anyone heard what Spatso's latest assessment of the 2016 draft is?

Just a post, not really delegating 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

I think you see a pretty close TOI between the top 9

I believe that Zaitsev will be top pair with Rielly, and they will be solid

The question is who plays with Gardiner?

Corrado (who was there last night), Polak (who shouldn't be top 4), Carrick (who might not be ready for top 4)?

So many questions

While I hate agreeing with Travis Yost... there you have it.

Trouba played as many games as Doughty. Therefore he is as good.

this is an important question Lou, though the waiver thing I believe will determine the answer as you prev mentioned.

I also believe that the 13th forward will/could be determined by chemistry with Marner because like was also prev mentioned, Marner will prob outgrow Kadri quickly...maybe do this:

JVR Bozak Marner

Michalek Kadri Brown

It's obvious to me Matthews will be on the first line/1st powerplay wave to begin the season.

Worst case scenario, by the end of November.

Kid is just too good to justify playing Kadri or Bozak ahead of him.

Potential first pairing defenseman, that would compliment Reilly pretty well.

Trouba at 22 has time left for development compared to Gardiner at his age.

Gardiner's a decent defenseman, but you can't teach someone how to play smart hockey, which he does not.

I am sure coaches everywhere won't like to hear this.
