I'd include Kapanen in a package deal for trouba. I mean with Rychel, Soshnikov, Johnson, Brown, Timashov....its not like we don't already have an excess of guys fighting for wing spots. (Not to mention Marner, Nylander).

I really think the Jets will try and get a left handed defenseman in the trade as it is an obvious flaw for them (Enstrom is on their first pairing ffs). They have already Laine and Connor coming up on the wings and their top 9 will be solid for a while.

Thus why the Gardiner+ scenario makes more sense to me... even if imo they should try to target someone who's better at playing hockey than Gardiner but I'm completely biased here because I think he sucks.

Rielly is the reason I think they could get him less than 6 mill. The two have been very comparable their first 3 years in the league. I can't see how Trouba would get more than Morgan. And I don't think a trade with the Jets will include either Kadri or JVR. Or even Marner or Nylander. There's enough in the pipe to do a deal though I think around other assets/prospects.

And 8 years x 6 million may not be any more than 6 years x 5 million in contact lingo. Young top end prospects have escalating salaries. More term means more UFA years being bought out which are more expensive years to buy out.

I think Trouba would do 6 x 5 with a team he likes.

I think it's fair value. But the Jets may want a NHL ready player.

I wouldn't give up Nielson. I would be reluctant to trade him and dermott. Carick is fair game

Trouba has no issue getting the PK time.....He has the issue with the PP time, where he has outperformed Myers while getting significantly less time.

What does PK time have to do with anything? Polak gets plenty of PK time...and it's not because he's Bobby Orr. Myers Corsi doesnt look to bad ( better than Trouba's I think ) and people seem to think he's a bad D and he's playing the other teams top lines.
