After last night....I know small sample....but I think it's going to be tough to send Marner and Brown back. They both looked ready and really played well.

I like the energy of the young guys and would rather Rychel over a guy like Prust too.

Still think we should go with this mix of players in this sort of a line up

JVR, Kadri, Komarov
Nylander, Bozak, Brown
Rychel, Matthews, Marner
Martin, Laich, Michalek

I think the bolded line could work really well.

Babcock won't play 3 rookies together. Wow that was the most Dozzer-like thing I've ever said.
I do hope the 5 rookies make it. But that line-up of 5 rookies, 4 average vets, 2 washed up losers, and an overpaid facepuncher is good for 29th place I think.

makes no sense why we wouldn't move Gardiner + for Trouba.

Fill in the 1st RD pairing, and find a replacement for Gardiner later on. Gardiner is on a fairly cap friendly contract, fits better with the Jets' appetite, and we have Reilly's contract as a comparison for what could be offered to Trouba.

1st pairing D-men are harder to come by then a guy like Gardiner

- Nastradamus

And now hes a first pairing D, wow..
His offensive no's don't suggest anything special and his defensve no's against 3rd and 4th liners aren't all that spectacular.

If you have to slot Leivo in, I see this:

JVR, Kadri, Nylander
Leivo, Bozak, Brown
Komarov, Matthews, Marner
Martin, Laich, Michalek

- underhill14

Nylander and Matthews are going to be together. Babs already stated as such.

I'd put Marner with Bozak. Bozie has always had a high sh%, and a guy like Marner would really provide a quality set-up guy.

seriously... hadn't heard/read that... oh well - if true he's done in the 'Peg for sure....

so he want's more money than Big Buf... that makes sense.... so it will LA or the Rangers then

actually he'd be a perfect fit for the Canucks

- BorjeFan4Ever

He's third in line for minutes in Winnipeg and he wants them to pay him Crosby money?

Of course he'll ask for it, but doubt he gets paid over 6ish/year

Edit: and milk-toast Holland can eat popcorn. I've cheered for that kid to make it for 2 years now....if he was one of the 7 dwarfs he'd be Sleepy....just meh.

Leivo and Brown ahead of Matthews and Marner?

He was third on the whole team in ATOI at 23mns.
- 1979AD

In 2014/15 he was 30 in the NHL, and 50th in the entire nhl in 2013/14.

Usually only top pairing guys ranking that high.

Potential first pairing defenseman, that would compliment Reilly pretty well.

Trouba at 22 has time left for development compared to Gardiner at his age.

Gardiner's a decent defenseman, but you can't teach someone how to play smart hockey, which he does not.

22.06 actually but he still played behind Buff and Myers.
Franson's TOI suggested he wasn't a no 5 defender also.

- the_eye

You mean his 16:50? Or the 50 or so games he got with the Leafs and actually was on the ice as a top pairing (21:50) before the Nashville trade?

I'm not sure who Vancouver can trade for him but he would be a good fit indeed.

I doubt they'd want to trade Juolevi just after drafting him so early but crazier things have happened.

- Scabeh

'Vancouver needs to shut things down and rebuild not look at trading for Trouba...but since its the Canucks I hope they do try

I'm not mr. Advanced stats but most number i've seen are showing that whenever he's been playing with anyone else but the worst defensive partner on his team, he's been very, very good.

I think he'd thrive in a more important role. I'm sure there are teams that think the same.

His offensive no's with no PP time is actually very good. His defensive no's against 3rd and 4th liners, show me that's who he's playing against.

I don't think acquiring a 22 year old defenseman is a problem in a team that should be rebuilding.

Yes i was comparing his TOI when he was with the Leafs, another poopty team.
If he can't Supplant Myers? WTF.
Guess I don't see in him what everyone else does, I'd give up a hgh draft pick and that's it.
Not a proven like Kadri or Jvr.

Exactly, he's already a legit top 4 shutdown d-man at 22 yo. Franson wasn't even in the NHL at his age.

I think Leivo makes it over Rychel, he's the better player.

Sure, but then Michalek and his 4 mil on the 4th line need to GTFO

its the cost

I mean I guess when the leafs traded for a 21 yo sniper..it didn't really hurt the Leafs or set them back at all

Franson's ATOI has never been as high as Troubas dude. Not even when he was getting top line minutes. And what do you mean he can't supplant Myers? His ATOI was practically the same. Their even strength ATOI are matched, Myers has the PP minutes, Trouba has the harder PK minutes. And I'm not suggesting a trade, I'm just saying he's already proven he's a top 4. And has gotten top pairing assignments, you have to playing 22 minutes plus three years straight. He's a lot more proven than you make him out to be. There aren't many 22 yo d-men in the NHl with three 22 minute seasons under their belt.

It's plain as day that, without catching a break in the hockey nerdosphere, that guy is one of those basement-dwelling WOW geeks.

I'm not saying he's a bad guy, just saying if he never had written hockey articles, and I knew him in real life, I highly doubt we'd ever hang out.
