Was he playing top pairing or just a lot of minutes?

Quincy-Lovejoy sounds like a decent second pair and you can still work in Frenchie/Mozik/Santini on the third pair. I thought Merrill was recovering from surgery and not expected to be playing yet. Regardless, I don't think He or Moore are a sure thing. There are certainly a lot of D men available. Unfortunately only Greene is a sure top pair guy.

It's not that santini shouldn't play in the A but it would be nice for him to outplay a vet and force their hand to move someone like merril who probably isn't going to show anything. Do you think we could get 2 d prospects taken in the last two drafts from like the fourth round for Merril ? Gets rid of him and somewhat helps fill our week defensive prospect pool even if it's with mid round players.

Lovejoy and Santini are RHD and Moore and Auvitu are LHD, just curious why you have them all on their off side. I saw someone else do that above also is there something to that or are you just giving 1st, 2nd pairs etc...

I see they gave Macwilliam #27 I read somewhere they only give numbers in the 20's in camp out to people that they assume will make the team, so he may be the spare guy.

However you slice it the D situation isn't looking as bleak as we had expected. Of course that is easy to say before any real competition from high end players. Mistakes or lack thereof will tell the real tale of what we have in this D group. At this point this whole D is based on Greene, if he goes down we are super (frank)ed.

Maybe a play for Trouba? Would Moore + Next years second from Boston do it? Maybe throw Merrill in to "sweeten" the deal?

Really impressed with Auvitu, thought he played a good game especially considering he was paired with Merrill. One thing that also stood out was the first powerplay goal and the point shot from Mozik, I believe, that led to it. If Auvitu and Mozik continue playing like they did and trend upwards as they get closer to opening day, maybe the defence isn't as big of a problem as some thought.

don't kid yourself. It's good to see some good things, but this is preseason game 1.. the sloppiest of hockey, minus half the star players, plus a buncha prospects.. totally different than mid-season NHL level.

I think I read the one stat Quincy was good at was shot suppression... But yeah, I could totally be wrong about Lovejoy and Quincy. They aren't players I've seen much of. So no offense taken.
