Kadri sucks, why has no one mentioned Kadri for Trouba?
Cause it would suck more to not have Kadri that it would to have Trouba..

Because Kadri won't get you Trouba. What else are you throwing in? a complimentary 3rd?

Eidt: Wait, wait, are you saying you'd rather keep Kadri than have Trouba? Huh, didn't see that coming.

So now Trouba is worth more than a 2nd line center on a very good contract, Eye see...

If there's any position the leafs lack as much as defense, its at center.

Zaitsev may end up a legit top pair, Carrick may be a top 4 guy to play with Gardiner.

It's not completely obscene to want to keep Kadri as a #2C and roll the dice on the Dmen we have.

That said, in this scenario (which is likely never happening), I'd probably personally opt for Trouba, but keeping Kadri makes sense to me too

Hall for Larsson ring a bell? Not saying that is a fair benchmark, but high end defensive talent is at quite the premium these days as there isn't much of it. So I do not think Kadri for Trouba would ever get done.

That's completely fair, but a lot of the conversation appears to be centered around a vacuum of "a 2C line center on a good contract is now worth Trouba"? To that, I'd say no. When you factor in other variables, then maybe not.

Trouba stacks up very well against Morgan Reilly. One has been better offensively, the other defensively thus far in their careers. A very good comparable for Trouba is John Carlson. And everyone goes gaga over Hampus Lindholm. You may want to see how Lindholm and Trouba have stacked up against eachother since being in the NHL.

I don't know where to go for that, but my eye test says Trouba in his 22 minutes a night over each of his first three seasons, at age 19, 20, 21 has faced his fair share of competition. And prior to Maurice getting hold of him, he killed Canada and other countries offensively at the world juniors with his 9 points, 4 goals in 7 gp.
