Jets fans seem to have a very inflated sense of Trouba's value. He has demanded a trade which takes away from the team's negotiating power, and Gardiner has a lot more upside. You all expect to get rich of this trade. Not gonna happen. At least not from the Leafs while Lou is handling things. - WestBrantKid
Not sure why you're getting so excited? The jets and leafs are not ideal trading partners here. The jets want a LD, the leafs only really have young forwards to offer because they won't offer Reilly and the jets don't want Gardner.
I'm sure the only phone call Lou makes is to offer Chevy his support. Can't see an old school guy like that liking this move by trouba and his agent. |

He will go to Russia or Europe and play. If that happens he collects a salary and will hurt his trade value as Pegg will get less with every passing month. - JIwasinskiJr
We hold trouba's rights till he's 26...that's four years from now. Maybe he'll be fluent in Russian by then... |

don't think the fact that Trouba came out and said he would like to be traded changes his trade value at all.... what it does is force the team come forward negotiate a deal and the dollars - IF they believe they can give Trouba the minutes and role he wants.
His trade value won't be changed by this - simply because prior to Trouba's announcement he wasn't going to be traded. |

Jets should bring this thing to closure before the season begins if possible... and it would seem if they can strike a deal with Philadelphia or perhaps Carolina - where they should be able to get a youngish left handed d-man. |

Not too sure about that. If a GM phones up offering a player (a player a lot of teams would value mind you), & it's not clear cut that player is on the market then the interest is probably 70-75%. Now if Chevy phones up the interest will be 100% because everyone knows Trouba is on the market, it becomes an auction of sorts because there's more than 1 bidder. The other fact is they don't have to trade him, there is the ace up the sleeve. |

Would love to make a deal with philly. That's my first choice, but they're right up against the salary cap and the jets would need to take on salary. Not sure how excited they would be yo get a deal like that done. Carolina is interesting with the young prospects that they do have.
As usual, Chevy won't be pressured to make any deal until he finds something he likes. Maybe his strategy this time is the threat of making trouba sit the entire year or play in a different league, because he feels he won't get enough in return. |

I'm in The Peg this weekend for a trade show. Was hoping to take in the Senators and Jets on Monday. Do you have any tickets for sale ? |

It has to be the Flyers........they have virtually no RHD's and they could also use a little more depth up front. |

Here are two trades I could see happening. I am also aware other teams fans will see these a huge over payments but probably a few Jets fans will see them as not enough. I am just honestly guessing what I truly think could happen. Time will tell;
Bruins get Trouba for Krug, one of Carlo or Zboril and a pick or prospect
Flyers get Trouba for Streit, Sanheim and a pick or prospect |

you really want the cast off piece from one of the worst deals Toronto ever made? kid will be lucky to be a bottom six forward... let alone a topper in a deal for Trouba... Marner, Nylander are the only additions worth adding toGardiner to make this even discuss-able. - ChrisMS

Both deals you mentioned are underwhelming.
Now Trouba for a package containing Provorov, then we are talking.... |

hate to break it to you, but never going to happen. Provorov looks way too good for Philly to move him. |

Surprised he never added Matthews in there as well - laughs2907
So guessing Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Reilly for trouba is a little weak for Trouba? |

Toronto probably adds a 2017 2nd rounder as well. |

Personally I don't think there is a match.
I remember Leaf fans wanting to rider Gardiner out of town only a few months ago...not sure the Jets have much of an interest in him.
I think there are better options out there...or will be. |

Jets fans have inflated view of Trouba but you don't have one of Gardiner.
How exactly does Gardiner have a lot more upside? He's 26...he is what he is. |

You're simply not gonna get that for Trouba.
You wouldn't get that, even if he were not a holdout. |

Pretty much. Gardiner is what he is. A solid second pairing dman. Just like Trouba. I'd say they're pretty comparable right now. So, with a little more room to grow in Trouba, if there were a trade, I'd throw in something to even it out, but not much.
Even Kapanen seems a bit much to me.
I don't know, I'd just as soon keep Gardiner, and forget Trouba, to be honest. I'm really not all that enthralled with Trouba. I just don't find him all that impressive. |

Personally part of me hopes Chevy lets him rot.
However 2 years ago, when he was a rookie every GM wanted this kid. He was rushing the puck, hammering people and even dropping the mitts. He hasn't been the same player since he crashed into the boards and hurt himself a couple of years ago.
But...he just turned 22, and already has 3 years experience. Someone will look at his size, toughness and skating ability and take a chance on him. Could be a homerun.
Me....I think he's a spoiled rich kid who's grown up with a silver spoon. He can (frank) off for all I care. |

yeah, he was amazing in the world juniors 4 years ago. Had a pretty solid rookie season the next year (ps he was a rookie THREE years ago, not two. It's been two subpar years now). He was a hot commodity at the time. And it wasn't forgotten the next season either. But, at that age, stagnating like he has, for so long, while all his peers pass him, is not good.
Someone will take a chance, for sure, but he won't command the price Jets fans are hoping for, that's for sure. Eventually, he'll sign an offer sheet somewhere, and the Jets will be forced to keep a malcontent at a price they didn't want to pay him, or take a mid-first and third round pick as compensation. |

That is why Trouba's camp will not sign an offer sheet. If the Jet's are only going to get a first and and a third, they'll match. Now if Boston offers up and it's 4 first rounders, then I think they'll sign. |
