i don't think he makes bergeron better. But he keeps people away and plays a role that suits bergeron.

Marchand is a bigger gamble.....very likely just the new burrows type contact.

8 yrs for a player that has a large pest aspect to their game is a long time.

I think marchand will be one of those players that has some longevity to his game. I think the contract is good for both parties.

37 goals. Infinitely better physical presence and intimidation factor. Fights for pucks. 6 mil per. Established "guaranteed" 60+ point guy.

Sure, Johnny gets about 10, maybe even 20 more points per year. I'll call that extra 20 points a wash for the fact that Marchand actually can provide a presence and fight for pucks.

6 mil.

Tell me why Johnny deserves anything more than 7?

How did Marchand do his first and second year in the nhl? Top six in scoring?

come on now...apples and oranges

Not to mention Marchand will be 36 in the last year of the deal

So who thinks Johnny misses the first part of the season? I can see this happening, BT seems like a tough negotiator. Johnny's agent needs to get reasonable if were going to see this thing come to a conclussion.
We can't afford to not have a strong start, although if we suceed without him.......

I lived in the interior of BC and watching Flames-Nucks games at the pub was pretty lame. Granted it was Nelson, and hockey is not cool with hippies.

Not a chance. If it comes to that, they'll sign a bridge deal. There really doesn't seem to be any animosity between them and if it's just about money, a bridge deal makes sense.

However, Nolan Patrick could make the Flames Cup favourites in 2019.

Well.. Badly outshot in Edmonton, but still winning 2-1. A lot of kids on D.
Pretty much even steven in Calgary, but we're starting to gel in the 2nd. 0-0.

Any updates you want to share a greatly appreciated. Sounds like Gillies is keeping them in it.

Yep Gillies was super solid
our team didnt seem to have very good possession of the puck after 10 min into the game
was like watching kids play with their heads cut off, bumping into each other, inaccurate passes, penalties due to being out of position

the plus side, the ONLY standout for me was Jankowski
he looked great out there....almost every time he had the puck he was making a play...great pass for the assist and had some other nifty ones too. Super composed as he puck handled with patient, walking the blue line, stripped the puck nicely off a coupe guys, good vision... let off a couple decent shots on net but wasn't able to get anything through (some of them weren't in super high scoring areas, looking for deflections)

Korpikoski was pretty fast out there for the first period, but this trailed off dramatically
the other PTO's looked terrible. Higgins was slow and never seemed to bring anything good while on the ice
Fat Rass also seemed too slow for the NHL at this point. In fact the entire D-corps looked sluggish (mind you we were on the penalty kill for so much) and didn't seem to play a very good system breaking out...maybe it's just getting used to Gulutzan's plan?

The game in Calgary also seemed to feature a pretty worn out group. Wideman was fighting the puck like he was at the end of last year..

Elliott looked good though and the game only opened up when McDonald let one in. Looking forward to the Flames relinquishing that goalie from the organization..

The Q is one thing, but he's sucked ass at every level above that..

Has he really been that bad?
And we picked him over Demko

Although who knows...those college players are always a risk, he might not even sign with the canucks in the end

Just watched the highlights of the game in Calgary, Brower looked pretty surprised by some of the feeds Bennet got him.

For the people that watched the game how did Tkachuck look?

Where do people think Janko might slot in if he makes the team? I think Fry was saying that he probably needs another year in the A, but he could learn a lot by playing with Frolik and Backlund.

As of right now its either Bouma or Ferland on that line. I am not sure that either fit in with the kind of game that the 2 Euro's play.

C'mon man, seriously. It's way too early to consider this. He hasn't even started pro hockey yet. Goalies take a lot of time to develop in most cases.

I believe he already signed. He'd be back at college right now instead of camp if he hasn't signed.

I've heard that GG has told Stajan to be prepared to spend some time on the wing this year. They could be thinking of having a line of

Stajan Janko Chiasson or something of the sort. Maybe if it seems like Janko's struggling with some aspects of playing centre they'll do what they did with Money and have him switch to wing in the defensive zone (but from the sounds of it playing in the defensive zone is Jankos strength not his weakness).

Ive watched him play sub-par at every camp since he was drafted, sh!t the bed completely at WJC-U20, and I was drunk and angry last night when he sucked haha.

We blew the pick in my opinion. Time will tell though.

Oh I forgot to mention that was his biggest weakness last game
he literally lost every face-off....cleanly...as if he wasn't even there
definitely needs to work on that, either its strength or technique at this level but it seemed like he didn't even have a chance at it...the puck was dropped and the puck was gone and his stick barely even moved lol

but I think he really could make this team...I know it's 1 preseason game, but how much better he was than anyone else on the ice, I have high hopes!!
