Going to play devils advocate here, and will get flack for it, but who is to say Nylander amounts to anything more then a 30 point 3rd liner? He has huge potential but may never reach it.

That could be the reasoning behind some peoples thoughts on the trade of Trouba/Nylander. Both are young players with great potential, but no one knows how they will end up.

Difference is Trouba has played in the NHL for 3 year and Nylander for 22 games. We have a much better idea of what Trouba will be than Nylander. If winnipeg thought Trouba was potentially going to be better than Buff or Myers they could of traded either one and gave Trouba their money.

I think people still think of trouba as the guy everyone thought he was going to be when he was playing world juniors more so than the actual player he is today.

The one thing that everyone forgets when comparing this with the Larsson trade is that Larsson is signed for 4.16m for the next 5 years.
