I was hoping it would happen within a few days of Finland getting eliminated. Then MacKenzie said that both Risto and Lindholm aren't close to signing and that there's a wide gap in what the teams are offering and what they're asking for. ::sigh::

Is it me or are there a lot more higher end rfa players still without deals compared to normal this year...risto, kucherov, lindholm, trouba, johnny hockey...
Could the world cup be the factor..? Playing well after summer of training would only help them..

Well, maybe they should trade away a LhD to Winnepeg for Trouba.

I would love to see the Sabres sign Risto and then Offersheet Kucherov.
Of course they need to find cap space before they can, so it is highly unlikely...
But man that would do wonders ... Slide Reihart over to RW with Eichel and Kucherov. Let Ennis Girgenson and Moulson play the 3rd line and hope all 3 can revive their careers...Next Year package Girgenson and Ennis for a top LhD.

I get being smart with the cap, but at some point just give the guy his money. 5M v 6M isn't going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I didn't see that they were "far apart" which sounds more concerning. Does Murray think he's going to get a McCabe type deal with him? If so he's dreaming a bit

It depends on the amount he is signed for, plus we would have to decide not to match. To get 4 1sts a team would need to offer him over 9,388,000 dollars. They'd likely get him to sign for $5,632,847 to $7,510,464 which is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I'd probably retain him at that point depending on the length.
