This has been the knock on the Leafs for years... Giving up on solid players. By no means if he a sure thing but scoring 5 goals in 12 games last year is a good enough reason to give him another look. Where he'll fit will be interesting but finally the Leafs have a good problem to have. Can't wait for this season to start.

I was going to bring up the question of whether Lou and Co. would even trade for a guy like Trouba, after the trade request and the whole spiel about no player being bigger than the team and yadda, yadda, yadda. But they traded for Rychel, whom I believe requested a trade as well. Just a little more quietly.

So who knows.

Probably. Michalek can fill a scoring line winger role for the short term, maybe with Bozak and Brown. Laich will be a mainstay on the 4th line, probably for years, I can see him resigning on the cheap.

That's not how it works, they can't put them on the island until they reach the cap. I think I saw the other day that with cowen off the books (and the cap savings from the buyout) they are 2mil under the cap.
