I like it also...can McNeil keep up with 19-81 - southernhawk
Not sure yet. He does do a lot of things pretty well, but whether he can keep up and fill some needs on that line are still questions. While I haven't seen the speed that can stretch the ice like a Saad or Panik for example, I can't rule out anyone fitting in there at this point.
Would love to see a winger with some size that can do enough things (along with some goal scoring) to free up Tazer a bit--particularly around the net and along the boards giving him a little more room to roam offensively. That's admittedly asking quite a bit.
Who knows...we could all be surprised by someone in the system/or on the roster that develops great chemistry with #19... |

My guess is this year He is not on the same line as Kane. With kane on the ice I'm guessing he and AA enjoyed a 10% bump. At least I hope, I would like to see him paired with schamaltz on the RW. Probably AA in the middle but I would be open with Teows as well. |

Duncan Keith said he "absolutely'" will be able to play at his top level. "I played with many worse (injuries) last year."

#Blackhawks assistant coach Mike Kitchen said team will try to cut down on Duncan Keith's minutes this season. |

Here is my order of guesses. Repeat: totally guessing!
1) Crawford
2) Seabrook
3) AA
4) Hossa. Either LTIR or team like Arizona who can take the hit but also cheap so can afford the $1mil actual salary.
Again, total guesses.
Which actually brings me to another question. Is there any way the owners do something to raise the cap since the lack of growth seems to be hurting the on-ice product? Probably not, but just curious if the owners might pony up something in a show of good faith? |

Scuderi's 1.125m comes off, the 3+m of overages form last year come off (there will be other bonuses I'm sure), Campbell's 1.5m comes off, Rozsival's 600k comes off and we have 2.4 available now. With the cap theoretically going up again, it could fit... but then Stan has to re-sign all the RFAs (Panik, Moose, kempny, Gus, Pokka) and replace UFAs we are losing (Darling, Campbell, Desi, Mash, Tootoo) |

For the 100th time, Hossa is not going anywhere because of cap recapture penalties. Hawk for life.

My guess is Craw or Kruger. after Jluy 1st next Kruger will only be owed 2mil and 2.3 mil for his last 2 years with a limited NTC, He would be easy to move at that price. His AAV would still be 3.1 but 1/2 the teams have internal caps. Craw will have 17 mil over 3 years left. I'm not sure why they did not front load his contract more. Same with Bickell. They front loaded as much as they could for Seabs, Teows, Kane and they are never going to move those guys. And in Seabs case probably couldn't.

I feel like every blogger should have an FAQ or something similar where these "facts of Hawks/NHL life" can be pinned and posted and then linked for reference every time the same question or suggestion comes up, like these:
- Hossa's contract and consequences
- Rules for bonuses
- NMC v NTC rules
- Expansion draft construction
etc. etc. |

What about this - If Hossa retires next season, couldn't his recapture penalty be traded to the 'Yotes? Think about it, they would get cap floor savings without paying any hard cash salary (perfect fit for them). |

If he plays out his contract for another team, wouldn't those recapture penalties go away. Just trading him doesn't do anything. Am I wrong? |

You can't trade the penalty. It's stuck with us. NHL (frank)ed the recapture teams. |

True, but why would he want to move to another city, uproot his family, and play until he's 42 for 1m per year? |

If it is to benefit the league, I bet they allow it. |

Playing around with the numbers...no one has to go...mathamatically. If you are paying the young kids to come back you would be looking at a 22 man roster with about $500,000 left on cap. That is if the cap remains at $73 million.
It's doable...albeit tight.

Wiz didn't the Hawks draft a big kid that can play LW year before last...?? - southernhawk
I think you meam big Graham Knott
Graham Knott from the Niagara IceDogs
Early impression: Consistently shows up every shift in all facets. Elevates linemates by drawing coverage towards him, opening ice. Very impressive how often he goes into the corners outmanned by the opposition and still comes out with the puck. Understands the defensive side very well. Very effective on the Pp. Has good speed but not exceptional. Handles the puck well and can create quality chances when it appears nothing is there. All-around solid game and a strong stride which may be his biggest asset… that must be asset that projects him as a more dominant player in the future. At the CHL prospects game,in his draft year, he didn’t stand out, except for an impressive solo rush where he dashed down the wing, and swung around behind the cage for a dangerous wrap-around attempt, which showcased his stride and puck control. Also gambled in the first period while at the blue line with a lateral cut that saw him take a huge hit, and a turn-over that lead to a chance for Team Orr.
In the pre-camp that decides which players will finalize the Canada team roster, he stood out on wing, but he was the oldest kid in camp. He's more of a down low player, but is more lanky and tall than a giant muscle player. He hasn't really become much faster, as he is a guy who needs to get going. (That's why he as available so late in the second.)
While in camp, he was one of the dominant players in summer scrimmages, and was playing with two good top prospects ... maybe it was Mitch Marner and I simply have a brain fart on who else...
Bondra every tape I have seen of him, he was pretty much a slug, but that's why they are called prospect, to improve. |

If you're going to lose part of the core anyway, what about Seabs and TVR for Trouba? We give Winnipeg leadership and a top 2 RHD, and a legitimate bottom pairing RHD, in exchange for a young top pairing (definitely top 4) RHD. Frees up money to sign Panarin, AND replaces Seabrook. |

And Hossa would be glad to go to Phoenix - and probably not make the play-offs ever again - to play for $1,000,000 salary per year.

I love Seabrook, but I would do that deal. Re-sign Trouba for the Seabs contract and get one of Kempny or Campbell back next year with Forsling... I assume Pokka would go to Vegas. Seabrook's NMC though... |
