^^^^This

Great players make tjose around them better. Playing with 19, 88, 81 etc might just might make some of these guys look NHL ready.

While certainly not any world-beaters out there, I didn't think the forwards were all that bad, Bogie. Just need to finish their chances.

Rozy, on the other hand, looked so brutally slow. Maybe it's a bit of rust, but I don't think so. I wonder if he sticks around long enough to help Kempny acclimate, and then hangs up his skates ....

Don't forget - they were 1-4 in the Travis City tournament - our kids aren't showing that they're better than anyone else's kids.

Ultimately they don't have to be better than another team's group of kids...just need a couple of them to complement the current group of forwards.

I would not want to be a kid coming up in the HAWKS organization right now ,to many experts dissecting every move . Starting to sound like the old Maple leafs fan base .

Yes, this exactly. The Hawks don't need a new core or guys to carry the load, just guys that can play with the skilled players they already have. The rookie/preseason results are just pretty meaningless.

Hard to argue any of this.

The deadline trades (especially last years), years of drafting late, missing on after 1st round picks, trading away of future #1 picks have drained the organization of guys to fill in.

Some younger guys seem like they might be OK in 3-4 years, but the above moves have left a gap in system depth now. Need to draft well for a few years, and keep some picks.

Makes it tough, you have to decide when is the time that you can't win cups anymore, and start to move some core guys out before you end up with 8 guys who are 35 and you can't trade them.

I appreciate the 3 cups, it would be nice to get a 4th, but I think the time is winding down rapidly on that.

The fan in me thinks they have one more cup in them, core isn't over the hill yet, the support guys who have been so important to cups don't seem to be there. Its only two games, they had no vets, maybe a Vinny, Motte, Schmaltz look better with two vets on their lines.

Time will tell soon.

I get the feeling this core has this year and maybe next to get another cup and then they trade some of the core to try and build on the fly. The bigger window is 19 and 88 - some of the others might get traded for cheaper alternatives to spread talent deeper on the roster.

I was bad again...went after Corey Pronman on ESPN.

I just cannot help myself...

Ok, Wiz, get yourself under control, it's a big night.

Concentrate!

Figure out exactly which Tampa Bay Lightning players are going to Montreal for Max Pacioretty...that both make room for them to retain Kucherov and play Max his 4.5 million...since the Habs have little space now it would have to be a full fledged contingent of lesser lights... or Kucherov!

Nah, Grosso just a phoney rumor mongering idiot....

I see some of the big boys are playing tonight against the Blues. The beat writers had these lines in practice today:

Schmaltz-Anisimov-Kane
Panarin-Hinostroza-Panik
Motte-Kruger-Hartman
Mashinter-Rasmussen-Tootoo

Here's hoping Schmaltz looks good with 15-88 which might mean 72 would solve the problem of Toews' missing LW.

Freddy's line just might be fun to watch...for a preseason game that is

Figured those two (and Dahlstrom) would be headed out for sure by today--not bad players--just not ready.

Thought Baun might get one more game though...

more like the coaching staff is re-ordering their prospects sandwiched around a few nhlers, no more, no less...
- wiz1901

More than the Blues are doing tonight, lol. 4 AHL D and the backup goalie as well. Of course, this is expected given they played last night and have some guys banged up (fabbri and schwartz at a minimum)

Tutu and Mash on same line....so basically rolling 3 lines tonight.

Tied with the Blues AHL team.

Motte looks good again. Forsling looks good too.

Id like to see them put Forsling against number 1 lines in the upcoming preseason games just to throw him into the fire and see how he handles it.

If he handles it well and looks like he should stay, then Stan should take the green light in trading TVR+ for wing help

What is the overall opinion on the CSN broadcast team?

is it like St. Louis where the radio guys are better than the tv guys?

^Pat Foley has been doing it for over 30 years with the Hawks and is in the NHL Hall of Fame for broadcasters. I love him, though some say he is not as good as he used to be. Eddie O. is fine as a commentator and does a lot of national games for NBC too.

The radio team is really good too, but I almost always watch on TV.
