I've met him a couple of times over the past few years - still looks super fit.

Met him often when I was in my early teens... family shared seasons tickets at the Gardens.... and my father had a connection with the guy who ran the original Hot Stove (not the bullshyte on TV)...

seriously, he would have had a field day playing in today's game.. no hooking holding and not getting run literally every shift.

I still get chills when I think of him coming out for Sweden at the Canada Cup 76.... loudest ovation for a single player by far... more than Sittler, more than MacDonald ... and more than Orr.

I believe Gardiner is underrated by fans. And I believe Management as well as other teams management hold him to a higher value.

a top 4 left handed defender, a quality B+ prospect, top 9 center, and a 2nd round pick should be the ballpark the Jets will be after. May have to throw in another prospect but I think its fair.

I don't care how good any kid is, I don't want anyone on my team who demands a trade because he can't play the side he wants. Thats an attitude issue, and a coachability issue.

If you think about it; is not THAT unreasonable. If you are good/skilled enough to play in the best league (business) in the world, shouldyou not have some say in which role (job) you have and which team (company) you play (Work) for ? Is like taking a skilled engineer and saying "you can only work for Honda in the transmission department." There should be more flexibility, freedom and negotiating rights for players that have put in their time and deserve a bigger role.

Going by this you are way over paying. Trouba is top 4 RHD so would be about equal value as Gardiner. SO you are adding a top 9 forward, a B+ prospect and a 2nd draft for what? An irrelevant player, and a 4/5th pick? Not a very smart trade in those terms.

take out JVR for something a bit less valuable and you might be getting close

right now the leafs do not have any depth in the top 6... they are growing towards being absurdly deep but hey arent there yet.

this team has two legit top 6 forwards with experience... kadri and jvr... those two are safe until the young guys show they have what it takes to replace them imo.

Meh, I'm a big fan of Gardiner. I prefer to not trade him. But the Jets want a LHD coming back and Gardiner does fit the bill. Maybe I'm overpaying but thats the price you pay for d men
