Lindholm is a much better player by most standards, right? Fits the style of play this team is gearing towards, too. I would rather the Leafs spend assets on a player like him, or not spend them yet.

6 mil a year or something like that. He won't get more than Rielly if he comes to this team. Which I doubt he does.

I agree he won't get the rumour. What we dont know is if he threw that out there to get out of WPG. At some point the rumoured ask was 8 mil for 8 years.

I honestly thought JVR and Kapanen for Trouba and a middle round pick sounded fair, but I figured people were sick of the JVR trades.

take out JVR for something a bit less valuable and you might be getting close

right now the leafs do not have any depth in the top 6... they are growing towards being absurdly deep but hey arent there yet.

this team has two legit top 6 forwards with experience... kadri and jvr... those two are safe until the young guys show they have what it takes to replace them imo.

not to mention he seems to be looking for a guaranteed top 4 role.

For me it comes down to 2 things. Do you think you are going to compete this year and is JVR part of the future. I think the answer is no to both of them. You can put Michalek Bozak in top 6 roles for this year and shoot for competing for playoffs next year. But this way you have a potentially solid top 4 d

To get you have to give. You would like to assume they will be better next year. Do you trade JVR next year if you think you are going to compete and you have a ton of cap space? I dont think so. I like the guy, and i'd like to keep him, but you need to start throwing your darts on D that are further along and have a chance to be good top 4 guys.
