Seriously though, the Jets could be a legit Stanley Cup contender soon if they get stable goaltending. Why would you request a trade away from that, regardless of your position on the depth chart? Play the (frank) out of your 10 minutes and contribute to the success. Or play 30 minutes on a middling team, and try to tell everyone it's not about the money.

Agreed. It would take an idiot to trade Marner for just about anyone at this point (obviously excepting someone like Crosby for the idiots that take such a comment literally). Wait until we see what he can do at the NHL level, but he appears to be the real deal.

Don't make trade proposals with other teams when you have no idea what you are talking about. After this year, the leafs have ZERO need of cap relief. The idea that in a rebuilding period we would make any trades involving us getting cap relief by trading away genuine (young) talent is ludicrous.

I don't see Toronto and Winnipeg as trading partners here. Unless the asking price goes down I don't see the Leafs giving the Jets what they would want for Trouba.

I could see Winnipeg asking for Nylander and a pick or Marner straight up. No thanks.
