Doubt we do it (or even consider it) for a number of reasons

But on pure value- it's probably not entirely unfair at all

We'll say no just to be spiteful so you can't have both laine and pulju

- HB77

so you're saying trouba for the 3rd overall pick isn't fair? winnipeg would look good with both of those finn's playing on a line!!

larssen for hall wasn't fair but the oilers got the dman that they wanted.

That cap hit though..

Don't forget about Pulj's bonuses. That means, if he plays in the NHL, Pulj's cap hit is near the 3 mill mark, so it all depends on what actually happens in training camp.

Removing Eberle/Yak might be good for the team. Big holes in the lineup, but you'd be taking further steps away from a core that represented a very dark time in Oil Country.

Replace them with plugs that can backcheck better and see what becomes available with the TDL, draft, June 1st, Expansion Draft contingency plans, etc. in terms of offense. A lot of player movement coming this year..

Just my opinion though. Haha

Nurse developing in the shadow of Big Buff sounds like a pretty ideal path for him.. Would have to send some salary their way as well to accommodate the cap hit.

Yak sure- but in terms of ebs at This point, I think they'd like to still try and use that offensive depth we suffered so long to acquire . You'd be castrating the one thing we have (high skill offensive depth) that might set us apart if we ever do take that step. Plus, we've already dealt the best of all of em.

I feel what you're sayin, and I think it's not entirely impossible they eradicate that core. Just not quite yet and they'd like to have another shot with abit of a retooled team before they go that scorched earth route .
And to be fair- this is the first time that group might have what one could call at least a serviceable group on the back end

Depends. Maybe Yak would all of a sudden do a supernova and become the next Bure, right? Right? I mean, that is what he was projected to be.

Or Kassian finally becomes that top 6 power forward that loves to f people up. Oh, how much we Oiler fans love to dream.

No, I'm saying it's not an unfair proposal .

Maybe I worded it poorly

We don't make the deal, but on pure value- it's a decent proposal

Yak busting out and becoming even close to the sniper he was projected to be does so much for this squad. Makes us infinitely deeper and more dangerous.
Gives us so many options going forward too.

Based on his seemingly low iq, it seems less and less likely. But it would do wonders for this organization.

This is probably the only reason why I still want Edmonton to hold onto him. Imagine a version of Byfuglien that shoots left on our team? We'll be getting Gazdic pretzels every single hockey game!

Yes. He is. Hes a year and 4 months younger and has surpassed him in each of the past 3 years in offense and defense in a lesser role. Hes more physical and has more offense. Hes better.
- Iggysbff

He plays a lesser role....Larsson played the hardest time of anyone league wide, and did it very well, so explain how Trouba is better defensively?

I've always wondered what would have happened if we kept Kreuger. It seemed like he was the Yak whisperer.

But you are right, at times, Yak acts two times quicker than he can think, causing him to just blow up and completely fail at times.

I wouldn't bother asking him for an explanation, that is, unless you want to be called a moron, an idiot, or a dumbass.

ohhh fair enough, I see what you're saying. I know a RW is important to the oilers but I have to wonder if they couldn't pull another trade to make that position stronger.
Possibly package Yaks and a 2nd next year to montreal for Gallagher? he's got a solid contract an could play on the 2nd line. maybe make it a 1st if that makes the deal happen.

Winnipeg has Morrissey waiting in the wings, he's capable of playing on the second line with some mentoring from Myers who I could see as his new partner.

Larsson playing top pair with Greene last year in a defensive system.

Trouba playing third pair with nobodies. Yet still almost the same quality of competition.

Apples and oranges. Trouba is a way better player.

I'd assume chia getting gifted pulju has him him so stoked. Behemoth guy with elite skills.
Probably a guy we want to be part of a core going forward.
Which could potentially open the door down the road for moving ebs too.

Not sure yaks has much value at present though. Not the silly 3rd rounder offers I've seen, but certainly not Gallagher value either.

If yaks can come through this season. I could see ebs moving.
It's not really that we're weak or desperate on the wing, potentially quite the opposite. It's just all question marks at present

If puju works out - him alongside Connor or Leon going forward gets me hard

Trouba is better than Larsson.

Jets demands will be massive.

Should the Oilers Offer Sheet him at $5.5M/year, same money as Sekera? Would cost 1st and 3rd round picks.

He's better in the corners and in front of the net. He's stronger and has opposing players actually worried about getting hit.

They serve different roles and I think its a little asinine to argue over which player is "better".

Buuut will Nurse be able to handle being the only punishing defenseman on an NHL team for +5 years? He started at 20 and certainly got his share of licks last year.. Injuries may begin to accumulate..

Mtl is not trading Gallagher for Yak. At least, I would hope so.
