Yeah if there is anything Canada is known for its bragging. Americans wish they had one thing that brought their whole mess of a country together, aside from police executing minorities that is.

That's such a dumb analogy, Jesus man. Pretty obvious. Go cheer for the Flyers. Or get used to the idea of Murray for the next 15-20 years, your choice.
- Dcoms

You're the one that said that Team NA training camp was the equivalent of Penguins training camp. I just upped the ridiculousness a notch while logging a reference to Battle of the Network Stars.

I hope Murray is all that and a chicken plank hoagie, but I need to see him improve his glove hand and I need to see him play a lot more. It's also scary having to pay him next summer with just over 100 games under his belt.

And I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. Rooting for any team East of Uniontown is impossible.

Notre Dame football is officially a dumpster fire. When are the Penguins coming back to save me from sports hell. Is it October yet?

Could you guys be any more bitter? USA hockey sucks get over it. It's always a new excuse. Wah our best players played on the under 23 team. There is zero chance any of those guys are going to be playing on A Tortorella team period end of discussion. You can suppose all you want it doesn't change that fact. USA brought a $hit team out so now those of us from other countries have to listen to you whine about how the tournament sucks and blah blah blah. The only thing that sucks is USA hockey and whoever put that abomination of a team together. Sorry you have no horses in the race but just like the rushians and swedes and all the others to be fair are honoured to represent their country. And the tv ratings tonight in Canada and Rushia will be huge for those 2 countries. Maybe they would be higher in the US too if anyone with even a quarter of a brain knew not to get their hopes up.
- Dcoms

Because tv ratings on Russia or Canada matter....

Just take it easy. We all know Canada is proud of its little tournament but remember that the world is leeching away "your" sport slowly but surely. How about the last drafts top ten? Ouch Canada! Bragging about this is like an adult playing b-ball against children and then dancing mid court after stoning them. Course on this case the children are primed to kick some ass in a decade or so. Enjoy winning your fake tournament!

Ps. Love Canada!

Don't get the hostility towards international competition. I think its important for the sport and for the players.

No one I know has hostility towards international competition. Just obviously contrived pocket lining injury risking competition. I'm not a fan of professionals in the olympics but I get it. This though...

If the NHL decides not to participate in the Olympics anymore, I think the Worlds are important. As much as I loved team NA, though, if we kill the Olympics, I'd like to see the tournament function as closely to the Olympic tournament as possible. That means no gimmick teams like NA and Europe.

I much prefer having the Olympics once every four years to the Worlds, though. I think its a good compromise for those that don't like their team's stars risking injury in international competition and those of us that love international competition. It only happens once every four years, so its not like guys are risking injury on a yearly basis, and there's just something about the Olympic atmosphere that WCoH can't match.

My favorite part of the tournament was watching Team Tortorella and Lombardi choking and squirming trying to explain their piss poor decisions. Very entertaining and humorous stuff.

the olympics suck... but have hundreds of years of precedence. the
"worlds" have nothing on it and never will.

Most, including me, wouldnt know, because they wont watch the thing. not just snarkyness... world wide ratings back it up.

When does preseason NHL start? Cause its gonna be so much better than this charade.

International competition is great. But not right before the season. Terrible timing. Armature set up.

Love these Marchand to pens rumor popping up...

But if even there's a bit of truth I hope they just try to go after him in off season and not trade... Boston will want a ransom for him...

Also, can't believe there are still some decent rfas not signed...

We'd be dumb to go after 29 year old Brad Marchand in free agency next year regardless of what you think of the dude. If he's a 30 goal scorer again this year, he's gonna be getting a 6 by 5 contract. That will take him to 34 years of age. Something tells me that Marchand will be declining pretty hard by 32.

I have no idea why people hate on it either. it hasn't been bad and if people think it was bad cuz the management of usa was retarded then blame them and don't say the whole thing has been bad. I don't know about others but I like watching hockey and especially the best vs the best. Team NA was a blast to watch almost every game. Canada is Canada and USA is just a big bucket of facepalm BUT THE GAMES ARE STILL HOCKEY WHEN IT IS NOT (frank)ING HOCKEY SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!! what are people!? NHL fans or hockey fans? cuz I know for sure I am the later

The argument people use is that these competitions jeapordize the season by star players risking injury. Injury is part of the game. A handful of extra games here or there isn't going to make the odds of injury sky rocket. And it's pretty obvious how important it is to these players to represent their countries. In my mind, if you're one of the best in the world, you've earned the right to the highest level of competition, which is big stage international competition. Say what you want about it being worthless. The players obviously don't think so. OV's threatening retirement to play in the Olympics. Patric Kane cried on the bench after getting eliminated. Morgan Reilly basically came his pants after NA beat Sweeden. These players hold these competitions in very high regard.
