Wouldn't it work both ways though? Like if we traded Skjei for Trouba, we have to protect Girardi, Staal and then either McDonagh or Trouba. So we'd be left exposing Trouba.

As far as everything I have read if a player waives their NMC they do not have to be protected. After this season Girardi is owed 3 years and 13 mil. If he gets bought out he only gets 8.5 of it, and the Rangers would get hit with a small cap recapture for 6 seasons. I think the Rangers have some leverage to get him to waive.

Well at least if there's any silly stuff going on there's Glass & McIlrath out there. Remember the last time 9 years ago we played the Isles in preseason there was that donnybrook of a game at the Moz with 1 fight after another. Won't be surprised to see some extra stuff going on w these teams playing 3 times in 2 weeks including these 2 exhibition games.
