juolevi is so solid at Camp
He broke up every 2 on 1 drill he was in.
Stecher looks like a pro as well. So fast with his decisions

It's a young D, those spots aren't exactly filled in with ink. The D that's starts the season will probably look pretty different than the one that ends it. I doubt Subban plays any games with the Canucks but he's developing. As long as he improves on last year. - CubanBuffet

yes exactly my point yesterday. And all the new guys have pushed him down the line.
Use his last name to get something in trade. - SMBDragon
Who's pushed him down? Just wondering because he's an offensive dman, which the Canucks don't have a plethora of, who put up 36 points at 20 years old in 67 games (.0537 PPG) in a PROFESSIONAL hockey league just below the NHL level.
I was blown away by how good Stecher is when I went to watch him this summer but he's the same size, if not slightly smaller, as Jordan Subban. Stecher put up 29 points at 21 years of age in 43 games at the college level, or (.674 PPG) which is great but that's not a professional league.
I know Benning has said some nice things about Stecher but I think you all are a little premature to state that he's pushed Subban down the depth charts. If you can surmise that from ONE afternoon of skating on the first day of camp you're a better observer of talent than me. |

Pretty fast and defensively aware. Could be good. Particularly with Sutter's line presumably more focused on shutting down duties. |

You'd need a trash compactor to package those two.

The fact there's good battles going on is a good thing. Hopefully enough to force JB to make some tough decisions and moves.

Benning has come out and stated Stecher should see some NHL games this year. When asked about Subban he says he needs to work on his defence.
That sound like there is some pecking order.

Absolutely….internal competition is a good thing. Truth of the matter is both of those guys are offensive players and they're both really young with a lot of upside. As an organization you cultivate and grow that to gain organizational depth. |

You guys, you especially, should look through the smoke screens these guys put up. He signed a free agent and he's gonna pump his tires to the public because he wants it to be a positive thing for the club, which it is. Stetchers good.
I don't know if you've watched Stecher or not but he's no defensive gem himself. His game is all about offensive but he is an elite level skater imo.
Size is the issue for both these guys in terms of playing well defensively. |

I have seen him play probably more than you have seeing I followed the Tounament last year and watched all the young stars. I know he is all offence same as Hutton.
Jim Benning and smoke screens in the same sentence is an oxymoron. He is the most transparent honest GM in the history of hockey. He speaks his mind , he doesn't know how to try to trick people. |

Ya they're both good offensive players, it's their size that limits their ability to play defence and they'll have to develop other areas of their game to play at the nhl level.
A quick outlet pass and quick feet are a must for these types of guys because they're not gonna win too many physical puck battles. |
