vancouver would be dumb to give up a top 5 pick next years draft for him... they are destined to suck once again. |

pertty close. i think those changes get us there.
but yeah, what a difference if the rebuild included seguin and hamilton vs. kapanen and rychel. - Tumbleweed
Oh well...the future looks bright, you've got some great young kids now and that's what matters. |

Tampa would match at 6 or 6.5 or more. The teams would have to offer him 8. |

The Blues have a few good bargaining chips though. And prior to resigning Steen today , probably could've handled it. - RobShouts
Steen's cap hit actually drops with the new contract, so it has little effect on Army's ability to fit Kucherov at $6- $7 mil. Moving salary is more pertainint.
Shattenkirk ($4.25mil)
Sobotka's contract ($2.725 mil)
Rattie ($700k)
Bennington ($650k)
For
Kucherov ($6.25 mil w/ Blues)
Sustr ($1.45 mil)
Tampa would need to move salary elsewhere, but the addition of Bennington would allow then to ship out Bishop, move Vasilevskiy to starter, & Gudlevskis to either his back up or have him splitting time with Bennington in Syracuse.

They can't really match 6.5 and would have to dump salary elsewhere in order to make it work.
Francis could offer sheet Kucherov for a little more than he's worth at $7 million and squeeze Yzerman for a trade instead.
If he gets Kucherov, great, the Canes can afford to give up the draft picks. If they match, well, either the Canes push to get another player from Tampa or they've caused a serious headache and done some damage to one of the better teams in their conference. |

I don't see Berglund and his 3.7 coming back but we will also need to extend Parayko next year |

The motive behind my comment was that salary would be traded away for Kucherov and Steen would not be resigned next season. That said, I'm on board with your trade proposal. Draw up a contract, I'll run it over to Tampa in the morning. |

Kucherov still has to sign the offer sheet. If it's one that they can easily match, but is lower than Kuch wants, he just won't sign it. There is no loophole here. - SolidGoldBricks
Exactly, if Kuch signs an offer sheet, it clearly means he don't care what team he plays for. Its just like Free Agency except the signing team will need to give at least 2 firsts in return... |
