what's the solution?
play gorges with bogo and play kulikov with franson? - homiedclown
Taking them both out back and shooting them.
Though that's probably not viable. And would be frowned upon. |

I will say it every week till they ban me. Guhle/Nelson >> Gorges/Franson. As of right. freaking. now. - Sabresfan-365
Guhle didn't look overly impressive at the prospect game I was at on Monday. Methinks he needs some more time still. |

He's still a better option than those two. Which is incredibly sad but happens to be true. Theyd struggle early on but by mid season far more effective than the two "vets" |

Flip side of that is that if you are going to pay him like a top 10-15 D man, you shouldn't have your coach talk about reducing your minutes. - sbroads24
He should still have the most ice time, so I don't see what the issue is. It just needs to be a bit more even. Having one pair play like 10 mins while another guy plays 26 isn't exactly normal.
You need three pairs that can all get the job done for the most part. If you lean that heavily on one pair, if an injury occurs, you're up a creek. |

Is it though? They're younger than I am. I'd like to think I'm not in the "elderly" stage of my life yet. Especially being that I have a grandfather that's still alive at 97. |

Why though? Risto was 10th in TOI for Defenseman. If you look at the names around him they are all veterans or at least 5 years older. D take longer to develop, this is known. Even the illustrious Ekblad average 4 minutes less per game. 99% of the 21 year old defenseman play sheltered minutes. He is playing in the worst circumstances.
I'm not saying he should make 8Million, probably about 6.5 for me, but he is a very good defenseman, our best by a long shot, and backing off on his minutes by 3-4 avg could very well improve his overall production both in the O and D zone. It angered me that Disco played him and RoR so much...it was obvious they got burnt out. I think 6.5 would be a bit of an overpayment, but not by much. |

Isn't it sad when you realize these guys are younger than you yet they seem "old"?
I'm hoping that since genetically I seem to take after my father's side of the family more I make to to somewhere around 90 like my grandma did. - HonkFortheGoose
I turn 33 in less than a week and a lot of people think I am 23 so I got that going for me at least. |

when your 25, invincible
when your 30, invincible
when your 35, sh!t lingers longer when you tweak stuff
when your 40, sleep is needed more and tweaks last twice as long
when your 45, you get cranky and easily agitated

Is the key to why the Sabres only want 6 years because of UFA status ... In other words they want the contract to expire while still a RFA so they can still control the contract better ( not completely, but better) I.e. He can't simply walk away. |

Will he still be RFA then? I would say yes if that is true
Seems like in 6 years he would not be RFA still..

Actually, I did look at it, and unfortunately no.
UFA is age 27 or when he has 7 years.
He is 21 now, turns 22 in mid/late Oct. so. 6 years he'll already be 27.
So if they tried that strategy it would have to be only 5 years...and even then he will have 7 years in.
So, original question stands...wonder why only 6 years?
I would try for 8 at 6m, 48m total. Justification is
- 3 at 5m,
- 3 at 6m,
- 2 at 7.5m
In cash out, cap hit = 6m
Ok, onto the wall and Syrian immigration, then lunch and after we resolve the Middle East. |

Anybody else buy NHL 17? I've bought the game every for at least 10 years and this is the first year it actually feels worse than the year before. Glitchier, fussier, same emerick olchyck dialogue now for three years, players still look like wet clay monsters, and little details like Foligno is number 82. Fighting is ridiculous, there's no weighting system that makes tough guys better than little guys
Edit: Foligno is 71 in the game |

Downloaded it, same...it's equivalent or a downgrade to 16. They recycled a lot with this game. The goalies seem more fluid, but the issues with 16 remain and now there are new ones. I'm waiting next year to buy until I read reviews. They are raving about their physics engines they are using now, but I can't tell a difference at all. |

Same buggy cut scenes after goals are scored too. A guy will suddenly fly away at mach 3 to initiate the celebration cut scene. And the faces when they score are ridiculous. It's a mixture of smugness and constipation instead of excitement. I read plenty of reviews and it was getting the usual rave reviews. As far as I'm concerned, I paid for a 60 dollar roster update. Still no '90s Jersey option. |

Agree to disagree.
He's good offensively, but not great, especially at even strength.
He's solid defensively, despite his possession numbers, not great.
He's young at 21, but has a lot of NHL games under his belt, so chances are he isn't going to morph into an elite player. - sbroads24
I don't agreed with the bolded part.
His great middle of the season, as you called it, tells me that he has the ability in him, and the big part of his growing into what we all hope he does as a player is tied to his ability to play consistently like that, and at his age, that will be the biggest thing for his development the next two years.
Hedman exploded as a player when he turned 24. Ristolainen can as well, despite the amount of games he has already played. |

Hedman exploded offensively. He was always really good defensively, and always had solid underlying numbers.
I don't think Risto sucks by any means. I just feel he's exactly like Jacob Trouba or Morgan Rielly. Great #2 options, probably not #1's on a cup team.
He has the physical attributes to be one, I just don't think he's very savvy in his own zone.
