Why were the Oilers brass allowed to sabotage North America?
- CanuckDon

What pisses me off is their incompetence, Lowe & McTavish, and luck, winning the lottery twice, has lead to some fantastic depth after nine years of trying to get it right.

Then you have an organization who cares about winning (Vancouver), and the fans want a winner, but they've had a poor drafting record and they'll probably be passed by the Oilers and left in the dust in short order

An unknown?
- Marwood

Sure, as in will he be able to replicate his rookie performance, improve or will he take a step back?

We are all, myself included, penciling him for top 4 minutes but it's still relativily unknown if he can fill that role at this stage of his career.

With those 3 as their centers if they are picking in the top 10 AGAIN they should lose the pick. Like the NHL should step in and say "sorry you guys are done"

They can't do that but ya it's about time they changed the rules. Although I think they're now on their way. That's a killer first line.

You can ask that about any player.

As for your second part, he did pretty damn well on a garbage team last season. I know many are expecting a sophomore slump but questioning whether he can be part of a second pairing seems quite pessimistic, to me. But I recognize that is your MO.

Maybe if there was a rule where if you finish in last too often your management group must be fired ...it would keep management from tanking ...although the oil never really tried to tank so there's that

they should say that no team gets 1st overall more than twice in any 5 year period and no top 5 picks more than 3 years out of 5. to prevent what the oil did. that way at least someone else would have got McD (Buffalo), someone else gets Eichel and the coil would have had to pick 6th.

Great to see the Ruskies advance. Ruskies versus Swedes would be ideal in the final.

Well they better win in the next couple years, cause they are going to have some cap issues when Draisatl wants 6 - 7m, McDavind wants 9 - 10m, Nuge gets 6m, Pulj wants 6-7m, Eberle gets 6m etc etc. They already gave Lucic 6m till 2023. Thats 7 players putting them over 45m. Klef, Nurse and Larsson will all want to get paid too.

Yup, again I'm not necessarily questioning it but still not expecting improvement as Retinalz suggested, like I said a relative unknown.

If he can replicate last years season, I'll be really happy.

I honestly don't think they tried to be that bad for that long, they were just really bad at their jobs

Eberle wont last on that 1st line. He's a pretty lazy player.

I think Pool Party is a right wing, he'll take it over in no time.

Have the top 5 picks be chosen by lottery similar to how it happens now. Then make a rule that you can't win the lottery 2 years in a row. It would ensure that it is impossible to draft in the top 5 in back to back drafts.

After seeing him this tournament

he has 2 years to prove his worth, and I think he'll do it.

$11-12 Million is my guess.

The rest of their D are signed long term

I think they're just looking at getting better, climb the standings, contend for a playoff spot, contend for a Stanley Cup...in that order.

As far as money goes, they have good assets if managed properly to trade, replenish and elongate their window of opportunity.

Less injured possibly ...but way less ? He still missed significant time in 2/3 of his last 3 seasons ...and he isn't playing in the cushy east anymore
- Redmile247

FLA plays a pretty big and heavy game Guddy seemed to do ok there. He's gonna miss a few to be sureā€¦but as long as he is consistently good for 65+ games/year he should be ok

Will Lucic will be able to keep up to them? I also wonder if they go head to head against other teams top lines if they will get killed.

Lucic has always had some excellent 2way players on his line and he is all of a sudden going to be the guy with that responsibility now.

Lucic is fine, in a straight line once he gets going he's quick. I suspect he's a 25 goal 60 point player with McDavid.

Thanks for sharing the Tryamkin drive Carol.

Dude clearly learned to golf by watching Happy Gilmore, but that thing probably went 400 yards, despite the horrific form.

It makes me feel good knowing I look cooler than a pro athlete on the links, even if I shank it 120 into the woods.
