why would any one want Trouba? he is a guy that hasn't achieved anything beyond a USA jr gold medal holding out for money? no thanks. We don't need another problem child whiney player.
Also what is confusing on PAP? Its very simple why we didn't signing him. Its same reason why we didn't resign KO and traded moulson . All are good players but the seem to be mistaking playing with John Tavares and asking of money they aren't worth.
PAP and Moulson best production was as An Islander. And im sure same will be try with KO.
Also I agree with not trading KO last year. We needed him for playoffs. You don't get a lot of return for unsigned UFA beyond a draft pick. |

I think isles still trying to get something done with Columbus. Isnt Columbus in cap trouble. that is where Snow has been at his best.
Also did anyone see pics from the islanders golf outing. Bailey looks pretty jacked. Maybe he did some serious Chain workouts this summer. |

Columbus has more cap space than us, so if they are in cap trouble than we must be royally facked. |

Okposo and Nielsen were pending UFA's, and by all accounts Nielsen's departure was a late decision and one that surprised them. Snow offered him more money than DET and he still decided to leave. This is an entirely different situation.
They were never trading Okposo, nor should they have. Trading your #1 RW before the playoffs would have been a putrid decision. I still can't understand why people don't unanimously agree about this.
Also, to the inevitable "but he could have traded his rights" argument: he probably would have gotten a 4th or 5th round pick for Okposo's rights, if any team was even interested in doing that. So I'm not exactly crying about getting a pick that would have yielded a guy who almost definitely would have never played in the NHL.
If it was such an easy thing to do, it's truly amazing that we don't see it happen with nearly every halfway notable free agent ever. - eichiefs9
I get the PO aspect but unless we know what could had been fetched is a mute point to discuss.... |

I think most of the troubles with Columbus has to do with all the NMC's they have to deal with prior to the expansion draft. I think they HAVE to protect Bobrovsky, Dubinski, Foglino, Hartnell and Clarkson. They'll also WANT to protect Atkinson, Jenner, Saad, Karlsson, Wennberg, Johnson, Jones, Savard and Murray.
Since they can only protect either 8 skaters and a goalie or 7 forwards, 3 D and a goalie poop could be tight for them. |

I really like Trouba as a player, but he is not what the Isles really need. We all know what they need and what they should use their assets for. |

Snow missed the boat with Hall but maybe getting Trouba without giving up Hammer can lead into another possibility of a trade..... |

you want a young good players that thinks he worth the world before he really hasn't proven anything. Btw, has he been able to stay healthy ever? if he getting hurt all the time now, what makes you think it wont be problem later.
These are players I don't care to have. Talent and want red carpet rolled out> Has trouba done anything to help Winnipeg yet? so what makes you think he will help any other team.
What makes you so confident, he will be really good? would you pony up 6-7MM a year and make him your highest paid dman to on HOPE? |

I just do not see a fit with the Cap and players for a Trouba deal, Just do not see Garth adding Trouba and then making another big trade for a forward. |

Not sure I want to see that clown on the isles..he has talent but the injury history and legal issues make it very unattractive to think of him as an islander. |

Well if you did acquire him and he didn't pan out you could always expose him in the expansion draft. He'd probably be a lot more tempting to Vegas than Bailey. |

Really are u his agent and know those are his demands? Plus the kid is American maybe wants out of Canada, maybe playing 3rd pairing is his reason bc Buff & Myers are still there. Plus plays at least 65 games a year except last year when he played 81g. 22yr old big D with a good shot....... |

I completely agree but to add talent with giving up basically nothing is worth a risk?? |

Apparently trouba averaged 22 minutes a game last year so I don't put much stock into the third pairing reason his agent gave, and his ask of 6 mil per has been rumoured for a while. If we didn't trade hamonic for him he'd be our third pair rhd and be in the same situation if that actually was an issue... do not see a point in trying to trade for him, especially since he'd be yet another d we'd have to protect in the expansion draft. All signs point to no. |
|
|

When would the trade happen though? Garth has shown he will lose guys for nothing in the past. - ses111
30 teams are going to lose someone for nothing this year. |

I would worry about clutterbuck not getting signed. Most teams are not going to resign players during the season due to the expansion draft.
Set up and agreement with the agent and sign the contract day after the draft..obviously players you plan on holding you can resign since you were going to protect them anyway

I think this year we see a huge spike in trades since teams are not going to want to lose players for nothing
Every team has about 2-3 good players they have to expose |

I don't see how the isles can afford to sign clutterbuck quite honestly. I hope they can,but if the price is a cap hit over 4 mil, I don't know if that's a good investment. |
