Maybe..... although it's hard to imagine a GM sitting there and thinking, "if only we had PAP, we'd be a Cup contender." It's also hard to imagine Snow receiving a decent offer for PAP, and then turning it down, because the Isles needed him for their non-playoff run. - JohnScammo
Garth wanted to fool the fans into thinking the Isles were still in the playoff race by keeping PAP. What GM would not want PAP? Come on John. He was good that year. The trade deadline is built on trading guys like PAP with their contracts up and they are having good seasons. |

It's true that PAP compiled a lot of points playing on JT's line and on the power play. Maybe if he played a better 2-way game, he would have attracted more attention? I dunno. Someday hopefully Snow will get asked why he turned down all those picks and prospects for PAP.... |

Exactly, nobody really knows what kind of offers he was getting. I'm not exactly upset if he turned down something like a 5th rounder for PAP because he was trying for more. Hard to get on anyone's case too much for not taking a late-round garbage pick. |

So I already know where Cpt stands on this matter, based on the main thread...
..but would anyone consider trading Pulock+ for Trouba?
I'm probably Pulock's biggest fanboy, but it would be hard to pass up moving him and another piece for Trouba. |

I dont think you need Trouba, as you have Hamonic. Pulocks shot is an absolute must. The days of KO or Fransy on the point are happily over. Let Pulock let that clapper off, and its a totally different PP. |

Doesn't it create too many cap problems? Trouba and his agent are a pain in the arse to deal with, too. |

No way I trade Pulock for Trouba. I'm not listening to any trade unless it's for a #1 wing or it involves moving Bailey or Kulemin. |

They'd have to probably include some salary in the deal or move salary out elsewhere, but it would be hard to pass up.
I don't foresee it happening, but I would have a hard time passing up on it. |

Trouba has a booming shot too and has already established himself as a talented NHL defenseman that legitimately has potential to be a top pairing, RH defenseman.
Don't think it happens because WPG is likely looking for a LH shot, since they already have Buff and Myers down the right side. Plus I'm not sure the Isles can/want to add that kind of salary anyway. |

Pulock + Bailey + Grabovski for Trouba. That's a trade I would consider. |

They need a LH so add de Haan and take out Pulock. |

Sold
For real though, Trouba is basically a clone of Hamonic and I'm pretty (frank)ing OK with cloning Travis. |

I'm more interested in a clone of a proven #1 wing. |

You'd better be ok with Hamonic after turning down Taylor Hall for him... - JohnScammo

So Garth thinks you guys should trade for Evander Kane. Thoughts? |

no chance for a couple reasons - cap hit/salary expectations would be almost impossible for isles to absorb for trouba, and pulock's shot is something that is going to be a game changer for our pp.
I wouldn't be interested in adding another 6+ mil per hit to our cap on defense. I just don't think it's possible to fit that under the cap and I don't think it's worth what it would cost.

If we are going to give up assets it has to be for a #1 wing and not another dman. Should be real easy as to what the Isles need to do in terms of trades. |

Garth is hoping we trade for Kane. Kane for Bailey Kulemin and Grabo. |

If a player is incarcerated, do you get relief under the cap? |

For real though, I'd probably trade Grabovski straight up for Kane.
BUF gets rid of a problem, we get a nearly-identical cap hit to Grabovski, except for a guy who is a decent 2nd line player, plus only signed for this year and next. |

I would also make that deal. I would love if they took Bailey back and we add a pick. |
