I believe there were one or two posters here who expressed interest in Trouba. I was not one of them, mostly due to the cap issues.

When Brian Strait listed his strong points, he forgot to mention that he played a "heavy game."

Me either, just the fact he can't come to terms on a deal and asks for a trade, thanks but no thanks. We don't need that type on our team IMHO.
Also the cap issue JS, if he wants 6 mil per We can get relief with placing Grabo on LTIR but I wouldn't do it unless we can steal him and dump some horse shat there way.

I may be alone but I don't see trouba as being better than hamonic, and he's got contract issues that will cost us twice as much. I'd view that trade as a loss for us.

Also who are we giving up for him? I assume the asking price is a dman who can step in and help. A first round pick maybe more

Im not looking to part with pulock. Kids going to be a beast on the powerplay this year.

Well I don't think he's better than Hamonic either, and Hamonic's contract isn't normal 6. If you can get Trouba for Bailey, Kuli and a pick of course after you have a deal agreed to with Trouba then you wouldn't do it?

Edit: I think it purely comes down to what you can tie him up for as far as a contract and what it costs you to get him. No way Hamonic is involved going the other way, Winnipeg is at a disadvantage here for sure. Kick them while they are down.

Your edit, 7, is the key point. In this world of the hard salary cap, a player's worth is determined both by his hockey skills, etc. and his salary. If Trouba demands more than he's worth, then he has a negative net worth to the team. In other words, he's worth less than zero, and other teams should not be giving up anything of value to trade for him............and no trade happens unless the other team is also giving up a player who is worth less than his salary.

Spot on JS, I don't think there's a GM in the league that isn't calling on Trouba.

I'm happy they finally got their guy

I was really hoping he'd stay in the eastern conference so we could play against him more often

Some GM is going to way overpay for trouba

I cant even gauge market value because off the Hall trade

Edmonton should really be all over this. If they were able to add trouba I think they'd have enough talent on d to challenge for a playoff spot. I don't see this as a fit for us at all

Neither do i. I actually can see the Rangers going after him.

They want shattenkirk but trouba is younger with a higher ceiling

I agree. If the Isles are making an impact trade it has to be for a #1 wing.
