Saw some hate for kulimen on twitter earlier. Was looking to see what people here thought

As a third line checking winger i dont think hes bad. His contract is high but other than that i dont see the problem. He back checks, plays the PK. He had a few good looks with team Russia already and seems to be infront of the net battling.

Agree completely. Like you said, his contract is a little high, but he battles hard, he's defensively responsible, and he's a big body. He seemed to play a little better when Grabo was centering him, but those days appear over.

I guess there are those who wish some of his cap space would be used on a first line winger, but cap space wasn't much of an issue at the time he was signed. Not much to be done now..... He'll likely be gone in two years.

Last year he wasnt as effective as his first year but he does work hard and not every year is a good one for all players. I think he will have a good year this year as a 3rd line winger and play better defensively

His cap hit is $4.16 million or thereabouts. Last season he led all Islander forwards with a +13. He's good on the PK......and that becomes even more important with the loss of Nielsen. Sorry, cpt, but he's way better than a turd.

Alot of guys had bad seasons last year. Strome, boychuk, Lee....it wasent just kulimen.

I think the whole team has a bounce back year. New owners, new practice arena. Halak healthy ( praying i didnt just jinx that) barzal looking like hes making the team and the new additions

The locker room is going to be different, i think it will impact the on ice production in a positive way

Hopefully ladd and chimera work hard and rub off on guys as the coach doesnt demand accountability i mean at least 5 guys had down years (strome, boychuk, lee, kuhlamin, bailey although thats par for the course for him even nelson to an extent). If they all play up to their abilities the isles will be better than last year if not or they are flat all the time cappy has to go

Agree, he wasn't good in the playoffs, especially against TB. But like Flexing said, almost everyone sucked against TB. I was talking about the season as a whole. I'm not saying he was great or anything close to great. But for the most part last season he played his role ok. I don't see him as big an albatross as Bailey, even though Bailey makes less money.

For sure although he's playing wing as are most of the 11 natural drafted centers team Canada has on its roster I just hope it doesn't mess him up

I don't know man we'll agree to disagree I guess. I was a big Kuli fan his first season and appreciated his 2 way game. I thought he was more of a liability at the wrong time than someone I'd want out there at key times last season. He was a shell of the player he was his first season IMO and to me there's not a positive to that in the 2nd year of a five year contract. Like I said I hope we see a different player this year but Im not especially bullish on that happening.

You just cannot count on guys like Kulemin and Grabo to bring the consistent effort. There is a reason they bounced around a couple of teams.
