even math is against you...

he does make a valid argument however he hasnt factored in desired outcome.

if 0 is the apex then negative or positive outcomes can produced the desired yield.

there are cases when a positive solution is actually a negative if it leans away from desired outcome.

Also the fact that the US just got beat by the sport's evil empire superpower, it's like thanks Kessel we just went up against this crazy poop that Canada can put together and they probably would've destroyed us with you anyway, glad you were relaxing with your dog. Notice you weren't crushing super sets of jump squats in front of the tv or anything.

Isn't it fun that somehow, things came back to a contentious Kessel debate lol...just when it had reached a bizarre consensus of redemption to the Kessel saga in Pittsburgh...Dion needs to do something now.

Dp...I totally agree on that, NOT picking Kessel was insane. That whole school of thought is baffling. Why they thought this kind of team building would work against Canada or other teams as well makes no sense.

You think team USA wouldn't take Kessel over some of their scrubs if he was ready to play?
Surgery, even minor is booked at least a couple months prior, they knew he was a risk of not competing.

Ridiculous, you can replace any injured player.

this isnt about being politically correct. its about class.

a person with class keeps his mouth shut... its what gentlemen do.

why? cause beig a mouthy bastard only makes you the bad guy to your peers

for instance... i have not kept my mouth shut and now all of you think i am an bumhole.

well... continue to think i am an bumhole.

It's really deciding to make your team weaker. A lot of the star players on Canada are plenty gritty too, but they also have the skill. All you're doing is degrading your skill. They could put together their truly best players and just give it a shot, their best team could beat Canada or the other in these short tournaments, stick with your national all-stars.

It's really when this U23 thing goes away, then the US will be right up there with Canada, Sweden, Russia imo, they need the players on that team.

Like for example Auston (frank)in' Matthews

I know everyone is going to say sample size, blah, blah....

But Laine going 2nd overall seems like a mistake to me.....and I said it at draft time.

I went in to today hoping he would be lighting it up so NA could play again but if I'm Winnipeg, after today and the previous games, I'd be concerned.

He just takes low chance shots which end up wasting the chance for any real play. Doesn't even try to make a play himself. And don't get me started on his skating...

- underhill14

What is a mistake is basing anything on a couple of games.
Did you not see him play prior?

Russia v canada. Cool
We will miss the carlyle style of run and gun of team NA.
Gotta admit an OT period with no defense at all was exciting

Loved what Kessel said. For the players who were whining, you should have done more on the ice. Plain and simple. And do those who assembled the team-congrats on assembling the worst US team in international hockey history. We saw as fans of Toronto what a team built of truculence provides for an on ice product, and as a fan of Phil I'm glad he got the last laugh in both instances. Rock on mother (frank)er.

I hated the idea of the NA but ended loving that team. Matthews and Rielly didn't hurt that.

Can't go wrong with Canada vs. Russia...Russia's got to want revenge in this one, Canada has crushed them before. Could be a dandy.

I'd like to see JVR on a line with Matthews. He could hang around the crease and pick up the trash, like John Leclaire did, when playing with Lindros. We just need another talented, shooter on the other side. Legion of Doom 2.0. Connor Brown?

i like and dont like the idea of JVR Mtthews

talent combo yes!

however... JVR has molded his game into being a net presence... and heading to the net seems to be a matthews strength.

i like the idea of a JVR Kadri Komarov line.. JVR at the net.. Kadri as the full zone play maker... and Komarov doing the board work (as primary roles ... obviously everyone would need to take part in all aspects)

They were fun and talented....but most teams coukd improve the excitement of their game if they play that style.
