I don't know, Jooris was very well liked in Calgary. Seems to be a very decent bottom 6 player.
- mdw7413

Grabner is better and at this point who sits for Jooris?

The likely bottom six forwards, to start the season, appear to be:

Vesey
Hayes
Buchnevich
Grabner
Fast
Pirri

Top two lines are almost a lock to be:

Kreider-Stepan-Zuccarello
Miller-Zibanejad-Nash

Once Lindberg returns, I think a trade goes down. Can't have 15 forwards on the big club, along with seven defensemen and two goalies. That's one more forward than the team can allow.

Not saying it's what will happen, but you'd probably be better off with Jooris over Pirri. Pirri produces some nice goals for limited ice time but is otherwise literally useless.

Pirri would have to be with 2 defensively responsible forwards, but his goals per shots is pretty impressive.

Perhaps Jooris is the more well rounded player but Pirri provides bottom six offensive depth. Grabner and Fast are better players than Jooris and they are all in the same category of defensive specialist.

Jooris will play but I don't think he will be in the lineup regularly. Same goes for Gerbe.

The jury is out on how the blue line will be this season but the forward depth is outstanding when Jooris and Gerbe are healthy scratched more times than not.

Yeah, Pirri will provide a bit of offensive punch in the bottom 6, but the question is: at what cost?

If he is a defensive sinkhole, then the bad might outweigh the good.

I think the Rangers should be playing to their strong points, which is a goaltender that can literally take over and win games by himself. Jooris' defensive presence may have more benefit to the Rangers than Pirri's goal scoring.

This may not be a popular opinion 'round these here parts...but I firmly believe your blueline this year is shaky, at best. If it were up to me, I'd be stacking up defensive skill in front of Hank at every opportunity.

I may have homer glasses on, but I think defensively speaking they will be better. McIlrath is better than Boyle defensively, same goes for Skjei over Yandle. Girardi will be healthy not playing on a cracked kneecap. They are definitely going to lose points from the D so I think this year the offense has to step up.

Going to be tough to pick an MVP for the Rangers this year with Nash having the most goals in the league, Vesey having the most points, Hayes having the most assists and Hank never losing a game.

I know you guys expected more from the US - even with Torts... I expected more from the Finns. Laine has been meh.

That's why I brought it up. Finland came into this tournament on high in terms of their national team medaling at various events.

The Finnish fans blame their head coach. 1 - one - goal scored in 3 games...
And Vatanen has been just AWFUL.

Very out of character performance from the Finns overall. Maybe they just didn't give a poop?

He is what I am thinking the lines look like after camp. Not sure if AV will mix a match a bit but I think these guys make the team:

Nash - Zib - Zucc
Krieds - Steps - Buch
Miller - Hayes - Vesey
Grabs - Boo - Fast
Extras - Pirri, Lapierre, (lindberg hurt).

D
McD - Klein
Staal - G
Skjei - Holden(would like to see McIlrath here but I have a feeling AV will go with Holden)
McIlrath - Summers
Graves as first call up

I really liked what I saw from Boo. his added size makes him able to play in NHL I could also see Fast losing his spot to Pirri if they want more scoring. I think it really depends on who plays PK- do they want nash on it again? can Vesey play PK? I could also see Pirri taking Buch's spot if he struggles early on.

In 4 years the US will have Matthews, Eichel, Guadreau at least, not mention a chip on their shoulder
