Not as many as you think. If Kessel gets traded, Pens are on the hook for his retained salary. (I think)

So now he is taller than Crosby - this settles it, he will be a beast.

In all seriousness the kid just has to play his game, which is what made him a special player in the first place. The good thing is he will get the 9 games which should give management enough to clearly assess whats best for him and his development.

I feel like if they were playing Benny Hill music and riding circles around a distraught Lombardi and Tortorella it'd be (frank)ing perfect!!!

So if Lupul starts IR, and it sounds like he may be pushed to LTIR, or even possibly retire, who knows with the boys these days, that would give the Leafs, what, 13.5m in cap space when you account for Robidas and Horton. Plus the additional roster spot would be nice as well. A lot could be had for that kind of cap space.

LTIR has some cap consequences into next year. Horton will go to LTIR but I'd expect Robidas and Lupul to ride the year out on the I.R. - Leafs have room to keep their salaries this year.

It does mean that the pipedream of losing Lupul in the expansion draft is over. And if he's injured all year they probably can't buy him out next June.
