You seem like a nice guy thunda, but I think you really don't get what's going on. Regardless of how one football player chooses to express himself. I think you have to be pretty oblivious to not acknowledge the disparity of race in the US and realistically here in Canada as well although different issues. - belcherbd
I agree with what Belcher is saying and I think Thunda is a great poster.
From what I've read about racial issues etc etc often times people that have been oppressed or come from families of oppressed people are the most hard on other groups trying to break through the barriers. Fortunately many people can see that the expression of civil rights is available to anyone; irregardless of their status or wealth. Unfortunately people like CK are going to take massive heat for it. I applaud his courage!

I wonder though, would he have done it if he was still the #1 QB on the 49ers and the face of the franchise? I take no issue with players kneeling down, or raising their fists instead of standing during the anthem, at least you can take those as a sign of respect to the flag even as it's a protest. CK sitting on the bench smacks of disrespect and grandstanding, and it isn't the first time he's done something controversial, like wearing headphones (ones which weren't league sponsored mind you) and a hoodie to a press conference.
You'd never see Russell Wilson or Cam Newton doing anything... well, maybe Cam might, but then he's a whole other ball of wax when it comes to controversy as the saying goes. |

I thot that this tourney was a joke??? and you'd rather invest in Enron stocks? and that anyone who watched it was an idiot loser?? - Brooks_Light
tournament concept is what sucks. i said very clearly and in no uncertain terms that there would be some good hockey. not sure if the overall game last night counts since there were sloppy passes etc...
i wanted to see how the Nux top line was gelling and it wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but better than expected. i really liked how smart Hank is and it stood out again yesterday and Daniel seems really sharp but can't score for shiite on a breakaway Loui seems like he's going to do well with them also.
so overall i liked what i saw from them. Mackinnon is as good as any young centre out there today. Guy is awesome.
i don't want to get into the 'idiot loser' part of your comment. |

I wish the Canucks could defend like team Canada, I know there a wide talent disparity there but I don't care what anyone says, Babcock is a good coach. The Leafs had half the talent the Canucks did last year and they still had a better goal differential.

They're not sitting because they are oppressed, they are sitting because black people in America are oppressed. pretty big difference. - neem55
bullshiite... black people aren't, "oppressed", in the USA... Thunda you are 100% correct in your assessment as you posted it in your original comment.
BLM is a racialist and maybe racist organization with questionable motives. I'd say if they can show any link between the police shootings and violence in any of these riots that have taken place, that they should be declared a terrorist organization and its leadership charged. BLM can go frank themselves. They are on the record as chanting, "we want dead cops, when do we want them, NOW!!!" and the idiotic, "pigs in a blanket, fry em' like bacon"... normally i believe anything is better with bacon... but this stupid chant is the exception.
Watch some Anthony Brian Logan takedowns of these BLM idiots. knowledge will set you free from your mental shackles.

why he didn't care about black people being shot by police before this season just shows how opportunistic he really is. f that guy.
he doesn't give a shiite about the 3-4000 black people shot this year in chicago by other black people or about the 3-4000 black people dead in chicago over the lasst 8 years cuz idiots like obama, emmanuel and other democrats who have run that city for decades deem their lives as not worth the effort... |

Wow, between the BLM remarks/anecdotal Canadian non-racism and this, this thread is awfully short-sighted tonight.... - NewYorkNuck
Canada has racial and bigotry problem that largely goes unrecognized cuz of arrogance, apathy, etc... on the part of Canadians in general. I'd say the USA is less racist generally speaking than Canada since at least Americans acknowledge inequality and inequity when it occurs. Canadians are more passive aggressive about their racism.. |

Wow. I mean, I know you're the brunt of a lot of jokes around here, and completely understand them and laugh at them, but this is just absurdly stupid. I think Canada Cup put it pretty succinctly:

First, my "non-racism" but was reffering to the OP about how his grandma turned her back to it and didn't want to be drawn into it/the racism back-and-forth -- not saying racism isn't present in Canada, because it is, but institutional racism isn't prevalent there like it is here in the US.
And about Canada being more racist than the States is absolutely mind boggling. Please, I'd love for you to find instances where Canada has been worse than the US in: history of slavery and how some states are trying to rewrite the history of it, disproportionate killings of black people by police officers, disproportionate incarceration rates, the KKK, and on... |

Wanna play the race card. My grandmother went through the residential school system. My father grew up on a reserve. Neither complained about the hand they were dealt or what they went through growing up. They went out and worked hard made something from nothing and became successful, good people. To this day I still haven't gone for my Native Status card. Me and my efforts and actions define who I am. - thundachunk

I don't think there are enough black coaches in the NHL. The league needs to answer for this.

He wasn't coaching an NHL caliber team, anyone can coach a stacked team, the real difficulty lies in coaching a team with only a handful of NHL players....who like I said, had a better goal differential than the Canucks.
For whatever reason Babcock gets the players to buy into their team system, their shifts are short, they accept their roles as laid out for them...that's his strength with a stack team like this. |
