I think many other players have asked and received big deals like what he is asking for as an RFA.

Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Doughty, Toews, Kane, Nash all signed bigger or similar deals ( taking the current cap into consideration) as Johnny is asking for. I'm sure there are many others as well.

I agree with Vantel, maybe not spengler cup but I would compare it to world championships. Yes the hockey is much better quality but I'm not that invested in the prestige of it.

The Spengler Cup is one of the biggest tournaments in Europe every year. This is the biggest tournament in NA this year. Spengler Cup has a long history , this one not so much.

Spengler Cup has players from their country playing on different teams ,so does this one.

Yes the players are better but many top players did drop out. World Cup Spengler Cup World Cup , they are all the same .

Do you mean coming out of his ELC? Cause Ovi got 13 years at 9.5+mil and both Crosby and Malkin got 8.7 iirc. Not to put him in their same category, but it's not completely unheard of.

Should be a good game tonight, a ton of highend players on both teams and they're getting into game shape which makes for a quicker game.

I am not saying he doesn't deserve a big contract but look at his numbers compared to the other forwards you mentioned after two years of play ...

Monahan is the perfect type of player for Johnny ...good quick release and can score dirty goals in tight ...but yes Johnny is the key on that line for sure

But it seems fair to say Treliving and co. are not willing to pay that price (according to reports). It's a shame to see Johnny getting low-balled, they have a very good thing going with those two and Burke better be very careful. I would love to see someone offersheet him for 7.5 or 8.
