I haven't been paying attention, if Rus wins will it come down to goal differential then? - belcherbd
I believe if Russia beats Finland, they're in. First tiebreaker is head-to-head, and they beat NA. |

Head to head ...Russia won the game between them |

I just wanted Sweden to be guaranteed a semifinal spot. Wasn't too worried about the final outcome, and I don't think the Sedins were either when they blew the zone to leave MacKinnon all alone in front of Lundqvist. They were thinking offense.
I'm OK either way with whichever other team advances from Group B. Team North America is fun to watch, but the Russians have had such a rough ride lately in international competition. I'd be OK with having them in the mix.
I am also cheering for Europe - because of their underdog status and the Canucks connections. But I also like Canada. So my three teams are all in. - Carol Schram

Yeah, this happens to me in the playoffs too. Sometimes I'm not sure who I like more until gametime, when my emotions take over.
I think my heart lies with Sweden in this tournament... |

That makes sense... I think I really pulling for the kids but the longer they stay alive the higher the cost for Johnny so maybe they can be eliminated |

Okay, I thought they were going with NHL rules but I guess it makes more sense to go with head to head results in a short tournament.
I could care less who wins, I'm just happy the yanks lost. If I had to cheer for anyone it would probably be team Europe because I think they were never supposed to be good and after that first game beating from team NA they have played well.
I find it hard not to cheer for Halak, he always seems to play phenomenal internationally and when the stakes are high.

I think he will get close to his 8mil on a longer term contract. CGY would be smart to do it too. Give him a 2 year bridge at 6.3 or so and in 2 years he will get closer to 10 in arbitration. |

I am enjoying what I have seenI like hockey. I watched other shows like Ted Dansons new ( horrible ) show while Canada was playing and tonight will be watching Survivor Big Brother finale , and Designated Survivor and not watching Team Canada. I still want Sweden to winso I still think the tournament is just ok . - VANTEL

Like I said at the beginning I am not too far invested in this tournament. It is enjoyable hockey but falls on the same level as Spengler Cup for me with the interest level |

C'mon, Spengler cup, Really?!?
Its mostly best on best, For an exception of the guys who said no.
The Spengler cup is a bunch of D Hockey Celebs that have nothing left to play for. |

Yeah this is my feeling as well ....I really wish they would have just signed him at a bit more than they liked and just be done with it |

They are going to frank themselves over. Gaudreau has proven he is worth the 8mil. He will no longer settle and he holds all the cards. He won't lose any pay as when the contract is signed he can have them backdate the pay, but management will get fired if they start the season without him. |

The only thing is he is asking for more than any player has ever got in his shoes ...ever ...he deserves the pay but still isn't holding all the cards ...at least IMO |

I agree with Vantel, maybe not spengler cup but I would compare it to world championships. Yes the hockey is much better quality but I'm not that invested in the prestige of it. |

He is easily the best player on the team right now, was top 5 forwards for scoring, 6th in the league. He knows the team can't start the season without him, much less go several games. It is just a matter of who caves first, and I think management does. I predict at least 7m. He will get paid more than Gio. Though it is a considerably less than the 10m McDavid will get in 2 years. |

I though backes comments were great ...he put the blame on the players not executing and stuck up for all the guys in the room saying that it was on them ...and possibly coaching too ...there was several Americans who commented on it not just backes - Redmile247
I bet the all-troll Canuck team could have beat this team USA...
Still gets me funny... |

For all of you who think this tournament is must see tv , fantastic . I am watching survivor tonight instead of Team Canada.
Not everyone has to feel the same about this. If a game is on during the day I will probably watch it, if an evening game I probably won't .
So this does have Spengler Cup level for me .Sorry. |

Do you mean coming out of his ELC? Cause Ovi got 13 years at 9.5+mil and both Crosby and Malkin got 8.7 iirc. Not to put him in their same category, but it's not completely unheard of. |

Must see or not, it has some entertainment value. and yeah, it is gimmicky.
Spengler Cup has it's Bad News Bears sort of charm.
There has been some good hockey. I want to say Canada appears a bit too strong at times but I guess that is why there are upsets.
I am looking forward to seeing Designated Survivor. Jack Bauer.
