Devils blogger picks Rangers to miss the playoffs, why would their blogger be as retarded as their fan base?

For Monsieur Tanner... Compairing STL & NYI depth

Top Three Centers:

Tavares > Statsny
Nelson > Lehtera ( the proof is in all the stats)
Fabbri > Strome

So far, NYI deeper at Center.

STL forwards worth mentiong: Tarasanko(40), Schwartz(28) and Steen(24)
For arguments sake, I went with previous year's goals for Jaden and Steen since their seasons were cut short with injuries.
Supporting Cast and their goals: Berglund(10), Upshall(6), Brodziak(7)

NYI Forwards worth mentioning:Ladd(25), Chimera(20), Parrenteau(20)
Supporting Cast: Lee(15), Baley(12), Clutterbuck(15)

Clearly the Islanders have more depth at forwards who can score and it's not even debatable. Not to mention the next three forwards for the Islander scored more than Berglund, Upshall and Brodziak.

For curiosity I asked a couple of stats guys I talk to on twitter who was deeper and better between ST Louis and the Islanders and got back unanimous votes for the Blues. Not debatable huh?

Oh no! You asked a couple of guys on twitter??!?! I guess my argument is null and void! What a joke!!! How about you comprise your own argument! I know some guys who lived near my friends, uncle's, doctor's wife's, best friend's rabbi.

Show the stats, sir. Because outside of the analytics you swear by, the Isles have more scoring spread out through their forward group than the Blues; that is not debatable.

You can preach to me all your advanced stats that you want, but when one team has more spread out scoring than the other, they're going to have more success in the long-run... unless you're dealing with a terrible defensive team that is.

Strome had a great first season and a bad sophomore season. Book is still out on him. I'm pretty confident he'll have a bounce back season this year it's not the first time a player has had a sophomore slump. You talk about JT Miller and Zibenajd like they're some kind of super stars and look who the islanders missed out on. Not exactly helping your argument.
- Cptmjl

well, you'd prefer Strome over both of them, and congrats! you got it!

I'm not offering it as proof. I'm just pointing out that some guys who know their stuff way better than you or I, agree with me. I don't personally care if you think so or not.

I just think it's hilarious that you said it wasn't debatable and that you spoke with such authority in making such a dumb comment.

we'll just go with these stats guys you talk to on twitter, sound argument.

I'm not going to call the isles a lock for a top 3 spot in the division. Injuries can turn a season upside down and there's a few players on the isles up front that need to show they can bring more than they did last season.

however, the real strength of the isles is in goal and on defense. Remove the games strait and zidlicky played last year and replace them with ryan pulock, who should also give the Isles power play a massive bump with that cannon from the point. Strait and Zidlicky were both awful (strait more so) and Pulock showed he was nhl ready in the playoffs.

the defense is deep, the forwards have depth but also some question marks. In goal with Halak and Greiss they have two very capable goaltenders that can steal games.

is any team a lock for the playoffs? I think you could say the caps and pens (as much as I dislike them) are the expected top two seeds in the metro. I would expect the Isles and Rangers to battle for the final division seed and Philly/NJ to be in the wild card hunt as well. One or two key injuries to a team and they could easily miss the playoffs. we'll see.

In the entire NHL the only teams that are a lock for the Playoffs right now are SJ, STL, PGH, TB and FlA. I think anyone else could struggle.

I like Chile's soccer coach on possession:

Sampaoli said: “One night, I went to a bar, I was with a woman. We talked all night. We laughed, we flirted, I paid for several drinks of hers

“At around 5am, a guy came in, grabbed her by the arm and took her to the bathroom. He made love to her and she left with him. That doesn’t matter, because I had most of the possession on that night.”

- Pete V

And over the course of 82 nights out to the bar, 50-60 of those nights you go home with the girl, while the guy who took the girl that one night maybe scores that way 10-15 times. Which guy would you rather be now.

I'd add caps to that and remove sj and fla as locks.

Nah that's not my style. You know that, or else all I'd talk about is how the Coyotes took my exact advice when they fired Maloney and revamped their team in an Analytics direction.
