I think it's a relevant question because the Isles could have had either Zibinajed or JT Miller instead of Strome in the 2011 draft
you heard the Rangers acquired Zibinajed right? 23 years old. Played lots of professional hockey. - jimbro83
Me saying that Strome and Bailey can form a solid 3rd line vs. Zibanejad who's a proven 2nd line center and Miller who's proving to be a top-six player? The comparison makes no sense.
Now, if you want to compare Strome/Bailey to Hayes/ to either Lindberg or Grabner you'd be making a more apples to applies comparison.

I don't think you guys will be bad. Never said that. I just said you guys COULD miss the playoffs. I personally think the Islanders are better team all around and a lock for 3rd place in the Metro.
Anyway, I was quite clear that I believe Vesey was overhyped. I'm more than happy with Rust, Sheary, Kuhnhackl and Wilson. They've done something Vesey hasn't: Played professional hockey and did it well. - Rinosaur
I kind of agree that Vesey was overhyped. I think the attention he garnered was overblown, but the people who were really worth listening to were all stating that he would be a good bet as a 3rd liner with possible advancement from there. It was all the people hailing him as a saviour that blew the situation out of proportion.
I think, based on what we've seen so far (prospect tourney this weekend especially) he will start the year in NYC at least. And my gut tells me I would rather have him than any of those Pitt prospects excepting Sheary, he looked great last spring.

I think we've had enough of the Vesey discussions, no? - Rinosaur
Really?!?!? You put up with his sarcasm and condescension for about 20 posts and I get one comment, with no rebuttal?
You guys suck. I would expect that sort of treatment from Chiefs, but this is low, even for a Pens fan.
It's amazing how you think STL has one of the deepest forward groups in the NHL naming Sobotka and Berglund as strength of that depth, yet the Isles have: Tavares, Ladd, Chimera, Lee, Nelson, Parrenteau, Bailey and Strome.
I can see why people go after you all the time. - Rinosaur
And considering you're trying to rip me sarcastically for saying the Blues have superior depth at forward to the Islanders, then you can see why I don't take most of these comments seriously.
Berglund is one of the better third line Cs in the NHL. Fabbri is an up and coming star. Steen, Stastny, Lehtera these guys are so underrated its not funny.

I honestly didn't start the discussion. Jimbo made the Vesey comment and all I tried to say was I wasn't for the Pens getting him. That's it.
The Vesey discussions have been beaten to death.
You want it? You got it!
I take any of Rust, Sheary, Kuhnhackl or Wilson because they've actually proven something at the professional level. All Vesey proved was that he excelled when he was older than the rest of a bunch of college players.
Oh yeah, and they helped the Pens win a Stanley Cup... Yeah, you take Vesey.

So you'd prefer those guys over A.Matthews too? Cool.
Tavares > Statsny
Nelson > Lehtera ( the proof is in all the stats)
Fabbri > Strome
So far, NYI deeper at Center.
STL forwards worth mentiong: Tarasanko(40), Schwartz(28) and Steen(24)
For arguments sake, I went with previous year's goals for Jaden and Steen since their seasons were cut short with injuries.
Supporting Cast and their goals: Berglund(10), Upshall(6), Brodziak(7)
Clearly the Islanders have more depth at forwards who can score and it's not even debatable. Not to mention the next three forwards for the Islander scored more than Berglund, Upshall and Brodziak.
LOL Clearly the same thing. So I guess Vesey has equal chance of being as good as Matthews?
Thank you, come again. - Rinosaur
Well then your argument doesn't hold. You specifically said you'd take experience at the pro level over someone without pro experience. There is no data to say whether Vesey or Matthews will be better. I'm not saying Vesey will even come close, but just trying to a prove a point that your argument doesn't hold.
So thank you, come again.
I love how your opinion is holier than all. You say that certain posters are just being fans. You're a liar if you say your fandom doesn't come into play when you say the Rangers are the team on the bubble. At the end of the day, you and I, every blogger on here, and anyone in the universe has no idea what's going to happen. That's why they play the games.

No, your analogy makes no sense. Vesey is a mid-tier prospect. Rust, Kuhnhackl, Sheary and Wilson were all mid-tier prospects. They have all played and proven something at the professional level, Vesey has not. Pretty straight-forward.

No, my fandom isn't coming into play. I'm saying I think the Isles are a lock! In what world is that fandom?!? I have equal disdain for NYI and NYR, yet 100times worse disdain for Philly and I keep saying I expect Philly to be much better than last year.
Again, your logic makes no sense.
My thought process, which is also very logical, is that the Atlantic should be more competitive than last year and possibly have one more playoff team which would leave room for four spots in the Metro, not five like last year.

Strome had a great first season and a bad sophomore season. Book is still out on him. I'm pretty confident he'll have a bounce back season this year it's not the first time a player has had a sophomore slump. You talk about JT Miller and Zibenajd like they're some kind of super stars and look who the islanders missed out on. Not exactly helping your argument.
