if the Penguins won the Vesey sweeps you'd already have his jersey in the rafters - jimbro83
Actually, no. If you were around for the all the discussions, I was pretty much against Vesey. I'm very much on letting the Pens' current young players prove themselves than throw Vesey into the mix.
Feel free to look up those old threads.
I think if you're lucky he'll be as good as Bailey.

Vesey is better than Strome? Do you know this by all of Vesey's time in the NHL? - Rinosaur
Strome was a bit of a dumpster fire in actual NHL games last year. I think that is your typical early career slump type stuff, but one could make the argument that his actual play in the NHL last year was indicative of a player that wasn't very good.

I know, I feel bad about that because I am here to make you happy - jimbro83
I know. You'll get better at it.
Anyway, I was quite clear that I believe Vesey was overhyped. I'm more than happy with Rust, Sheary, Kuhnhackl and Wilson. They've done something Vesey hasn't: Played professional hockey and did it well.

Honestly, you didn't want a free asset on an entry level deal that would cost the team absolutely nothing. Even if Vesey sucks, it is literally now harm now foul. And at a minimum, he puts another asset in any organization that gives you trade leverage. The more desirable pieces an organization has the better.

The Pens barely have any cap room and will have less than a million once Dupuis' LTIR kicks in. So, they would have had to either make room for Vesey or not re-sign Cullen. So yeah, I pass.
