they've all definitely been around a very long time - jimbro83
Sometimes it's hard to detach yourself as a fan, I get it. I think you need to though. I dislike the Islanders probably as much as you, but I can't let that affect what is reality.
Sampaoli said: “One night, I went to a bar, I was with a woman. We talked all night. We laughed, we flirted, I paid for several drinks of hers
“At around 5am, a guy came in, grabbed her by the arm and took her to the bathroom. He made love to her and she left with him. That doesn’t matter, because I had most of the possession on that night.”

I don't believe there are many Isles fans who consider them absolute locks to make the playoffs at this point either

Well that's not something that's exactly quantifiable, now is it?
The Islanders lost two players, one of which was a consistent 20+ goal-scorer and one who CAN put up 20+ goals with three players who have scored 20+ goals. They've added scoring.
Nelson should be able to slide into Neilsen's position without much issue and Strome should be quite comfortable at 3C.

I think reality is what the standings ultimately say. What we do here? We are just a bunch of people with opinions.

You're assuming all their young players get better.
Strome was a (frank)ing dumpster fire last year. Couldn't even stay with the club.
With Halak in net, and a thin group of F after Tavares? Their D is good, but I think at best they are a bubble team.
Playoff Locks, East: Fla, TB, PGH, Wash
Probably making it: Flyers, Bruins.
That Leaves the Leafs, Islanders, Hurricanes, Canadiens, Devils, Rangers and islanders fighting for the last two spots.
I think Detroit, Ottawa, Columbus and Buffalo will be in the basement of the conferece and fighting over lottery picks. - JTanner
It's amazing how you think STL has one of the deepest forward groups in the NHL naming Sobotka and Berglund as strength of that depth, yet the Isles have: Tavares, Ladd, Chimera, Lee, Nelson, Parrenteau, Bailey and Strome.

I can see why people go after you all the time. - Rinosaur
