So besides the games themselves...a few obvservations from the World Cup of Hockey
1. The GoPro feed being worked into replays is fantastic. Such an awesome perspective of some of these plays
2. The player tracking is a very cool feature to see worked into the broadcasts as well. We have come a long way since the glow puck.
3. Leah Hextall is hot |

players with 0 nhl games played having to "significantly outplay" longtime NHL veterans in order to make a team just seems like flawed thinking to me - Crimsoninja

Not able to watch, but it seems like this NA/Swe game is the 2012 ECQF Flyers vs. Penguins where goaltending was optional. - jmatchett383
some goals were stoppable, but there were power plays, breakaways, a penalty shot...second period has been dominated by NA and Hank has been very sharp |

McDavid and Matthews are getting a lot of hype, and deservedly so, but to me, MacKinnon has been their best player in this tournament. |

He's been good, but he's been in the league for a few years now. These guys are 18-19 with little or no NHL experience. |

McDavid is very clearly the most skilled player on the ice right now. MacKinnon has been very good. |

I think he looks good at both ends of the ice.
He's *elite* as an offensive D man but he looks solid, steady and competent on the D side |

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Prospect Camp, World Cup - bmeltzer
Last season was the only season that Read was split from Sean Couturier. While l don't really expect Read to return to what he was five years ago, I think Read is only going to be as good as who he plays with. Somehow Couturier and Read seemed like the perfect balance of scoring threat and checking top line together. I don't think Matt Read has much of a shot of being neither a offensive or defensive useful player playing next to players still looking to find their way in the NHL, such as Nick Cousins and Scott Laughton.
While I'm on the subject of Laughton and Cousins, what do you guys expect from each player? Are you comfortable with Cousins currently being penciled in as our third line center? Even with picking up Boyd Gordon, are we going to expect a bigger role from Gordon as a trusted face off man in the defensive zone as a vet defensive forward? |

I think Gaudreau is only a hair behind McDavid out there. Amazing level of skill.
Love MacKinnon, he is so fast and tenacious. |

Also I love the idea of a Morin/Samheim pair moving forward. That pair feels like it could be legit, as well as Provorov having the ability to play with anyone. Future looks bright. Just need to find that replacement for G someday. |

I think Matt Read can be an effective checking forward playing with anyone on the roster. I'm not comfortable with Cousins long term as a 3rd line center, but I'm open to being persuaded.

I think Read needs another shot with Couturier. I don't think it's fair to place him with Cousins and Laughton and ask why he's not producing. |

Atta boy Ghost way to completely miss the net when Eichel serves the game winner to him on a platter. Way to blow Team NA's chances of advancing. Moments are too big for him. Just like the playoffs last year. |

Yeah and his last one had sooo much to do with MacKinnon's goal. Russia will crush the Fin's tomorrow in regulation and Ghost can get into training camp to start another first round exit or worse campaign for the Flyers. Go get em Ghost. |

Great game, I loved the way the Swedes cherry picking ways blew up in their face at the end. I'm not sure who all was on the ice, but the two forwards who were up high blew the zone, third man back had the puck and got pickpocketed. Mackinnon had all kinds of time in front of the net and destroyed King Henrik with a backhander in the top corner.
