The one who could be a top-4 NHL defenseman and provide quality minutes at even strength and the PK, or the bottom-pair NHL defenseman who takes bad penalties and has no offense? - jmatchett383
I see top 4, minutes eater, quality PK guy.
Funny thing is that as good as Gostisbehre is I see him more of the 3rd pairing, top PP specialist guy. Looking at some of the guys coming up I think Gostisbehere falls a little at 5v5 with guys that could be joining the defense
I'm just saying, every pro can shoot. Just more goes into it than having a "hard shot." I see now you were responding to someone who wrote Morin can't shoot. Which is false too. He just needs time and space to get his big shot off. I didn't mean to sound accusatory.

Agreed. Ghost is probably the one who will make the most highlight-reel moves, and I think he's better defensively than advertised, but you don't want him out there against top lines constantly.

I expect, in a few years, the top shutdown pair will be Provorov/Morin
Morin has consistently shown his has a big shot that he is able to get off quite quickly over the past three years. Using a weak shot as an argument against him just doesn't make any sense.
Diving play on errant pass to get it to Giroux vs. Winnipeg
The Winnipeg one led to a better outcome, but they were both pretty crazy plays. - jmatchett383
keeping the puck in was the better play to me. that puck is normally cleared and what he did to keep it in along with quickly getting it to where Simmonds should score quickly was incredible
