I actually think Sanheim is the likeliest. Sanheim was our top D prospect until Provorov came along and is basically the super Sanheim. Morin still offers the nastiness/physicality that none of the other ones can offer. Sanheim's skill set, while a very good one, becomes a bit redundant when you have Provorov, and he could probably fetch a better return than Morin.

Completely agree that they'd get more for Sanheim, but it seems like a big, nasty defender with a more limited skill set, isn't a necessity in the current NHL. Top teams like Chicago, LA, Pitt, etc. don't have a guy like that and they win fairly frequently.

The dude's permanently* earned the right to be salty in my book. No matter what the guy does, he's consistently snubbed, underrated, and mocked.

Based on his tweet, he was obviously healthy, and willing to play, so not selecting him to the team is rather puzzling.

I think Hagg kind of fizzles out and they keep the rest.

Look at how long Anaheim have kept all their good young dmen, and even added to it with Despres. It's only the expansion draft that has them looking at moving one of them.

Vatanen - 106th overall in 2009
Fowler - 12th overall in 2010
Manson - 160th overall in 2011
Lindholm - 6th overall in 2012
Theodore - 26th overall in 2013
Montour - 55th overall in 2014

All six guys still with the organization.

Great to have that kind of depth. Hexy doesn't seem to be the type to trade picks, so all he has to do is keeping stocking the cupboard, especially with forwards, and they should be good to go!

I think a mobile big dominant defender, with decent puck skills would be a nice player to have. I don't want a team of finesse offensive defenseman.

Quite a few puzzling choices on Team USA's roster

Neither do I...but he isn't Pronger or Chara lite either. He can skate and move the puck, but he also seems prone to taking bad penalties and doesn't have much of a shot considering how big he is. Didn't say I wanted a team full of finesse d-men, but there isn't a huge need for a guy that will rip your head off when you get into his defensive zone either. All it leads to is penalties.

He didn't agree with not being picked for the team and sent a shot across the bow of Team USA's management. Not sure how that isn't being a "man" about the situation. I thought it was pretty funny to be honest.
- aantny88

Take it up with management, face to face, adult to adult. Sending a sub-tweet as he did reeks of immaturity.

I certainly hope they do some soul searching before the next tournament. As losses go, I'm not sure you could script a more complete failure.

Morin has a very heavy shot.

Am I the only one who thinks that Kessel's tweet was very immature?

Given my own opinion about the construction and makeup of Team USA, I kind of enjoyed it.

The guy hasn't even started his NHL career already, and it seems as though you already have him pigeon holed as a player. I think his potential is much higher than just being a guy who takes penalties.

How would saying something face to face to Lombardi or Holmgren, et. al. have changed a thing?

Im just hoping Morin becomes a consistent, nasty, physical player who wont hurt us in the offensive end. IE make a good first pass, get some shots on net.

I think defensively he is going to be a stud.

Not that I think he's the exact same player, but when I think what Morin could provide Gudas comes to mind: the physical tools to resist pressure combined with enough skill to make good passes and keep the play moving.

How does tweeting like a middle schooler with hurt feelings change anything?

I guess you didn't read the part where I stated he skates well and can move the puck for a big guy. You're right though, I've pigeon holed him

Didn't say it would, only that is was funny and he was pointing out his disagreement with Team USA management. So in your estimation, any time someone posts a tweet that they disagree with a decision another individual has made, that classifies them as a middle schooler?

When Pronger or Chara were starting their careers were they guaranteed prospects?
Both were traded and in the case of Chara multiple times before really hitting their stride.

I just dont see the point in saying a player that has never played in an NHL game is 100% this or 100% that.

No one is guaranteed anything, regardless of where they are picked in the draft or even undrafted. I've seen him play AHL games and some junior games and I was simply making an observation about what I noticed. Like everyone else that has an opinion on a player, sometimes they're right and sometimes they're wrong. We'll see how he does and I hope for the Flyers sake he turns out to be a great d-man.

What other teams do shouldn't always determine your path.

Maybe having a guy like Morin will be a benefit to the Flyers. I like having someone with a little edge and size. He provides a completely different skill set than anyone else in the system.

Maybe I'm off base with this, but doesn't Hjalmarsson play the physical defensive blueliner role for the Hawks?
