in case you haven't seen the spam before..
The "hockeybuzz" yahoo league I commish is open for business. 7 years strong, no keepers, 20 teams, big rosters. 7 managers haven't renewed yet.
most likely no money, and if there is any it'll be like 10 bucks. we never did money before, probably won't start now, but maybe it'll help keep all 20 managers active.
The draft date/time has already been finalized.
Thursday, Oct 13th at 8pm EDT
As far as I know, all 13 managers will be in attendance.
Send me a message if you're interested. |

If they really want to get all the best players in the world at the next tournament and they don't care about nationalities (ie team NA and team Europe) then change it.
Everyone says Canada needs two teams.. which is fair. Instead of making a young team and a veteran team, or Canada #1 and Canada #2, do this:
Make a team Ontario and a team 'Rest of Canada'. Everyone in the rest of Canada hates Ontario anyways, so it's a natural rivalry.
In my opinion, anything other than full countries and nationalities is a joke and makes it ridiculous, but I don't see the NHL changing it. They want as many of the best players in the world there regardless of who they are actually playing for. So if that's the case, then let's do it right at least.
Team Ontario..
Team 'Rest of Canada. |

i like the idea of 2 Canadian teams but instead of one team getting the left overs, let them draft the teams fantasy style. |

have to wonder if the Avs could have won more Cups in that span with better coaching. the talent there was legendary. |

this is exactly it.
Kesler is a waste of skin. The Johnson's aren't that good, Pactioretty is a pretty crappy player. Abdelkader shouldnt have been there.
And i did not hear Parise's name called once during the game last night. maybe I missed it, but even still, I forgot he was on the team.
they definitely had better options. too bad. |

Erik Johnson was fine (probably was one of the better Dman for USA all tourny which isnt saying much) but I agree hes a fringe 7th Dman if they are trying to pick the best team out there..but why in bloody hell would Torts play him on the Left side when he has never played his off hand ever. Then pair him with a roving Buff. That pair was a disaster.
Torts is an idiot |

Canada looked like they had 5 minute PP's at some points in the game..USA just ran around in their own end and blindly passed to Canadian points.. |

Getting bounced from a tournament does not bother me at all. Would I have liked them to be competitive? Yea, it would have made for some fun watching. But I don't put much stock in these kinds of things--I certainly don't look at any of the guys or their skill any differently or less than I did before.
The NHL season is all that matters. The World Cup of Hockey is just a fun tournament before the real playing starts--a fun way to have some country rivalries and watch the best players compete. But that's just my opinion. |

you're assuming that the American guys on the NA team would have been welcome on this American team. given that Justin Abdelkader, Jack Johnson and David Backes were on this team, i highly doubt there would have been a taste for guys like Saad, Eichel and Jones. - DoubleDown
I was shocked when Dustin Brown wasn't selected! |
