Lindy Ruff is the reason he is leaving too...discuss
- DDM-Coga

lindy has rarely had the benefit of coaching truly talented offensive players. he had like one year here when the league changed the rules to allow smaller players to skate, and hes had a few good years with seguin and benn. my guess is nichuskin wasnt scoring at an all world level and lindy demanded he play two way. sound about right?

Meltdown's expected, the wheat is growing thin ... .

It's odd to remember that I used to get so happy listening to such dark pessimism.

lets hope he has enough respect for the Sabres, his teammates, and him self to work like hell to be in tip top shape this season. Maybe then he can put up at least 15/20/35pts. I would consider that a home run at this point

Moulson has zero incentive to improve his game. Guaranteed 5 mil a year and he turn 33 in November. He's got nothing to lose and nothing to gain. We have to hope person pride kicks in.
- Buffalo--Sabres

I think personal pride and not wanting to let teammates down is an incentive. Sure, he could be the person who says "I've got my money, I'll show up but I'm not trying" but he could also be the opposite. Do I think he's going to have the same work ethic as some 21 year old scraping to make the team? Nah. He's got kids, he's not as spry, and he has his money and his spot. But I don't think he packs it in.

I think he'll be okay this year. Not good, not as bad as last year. 12-18-30. I also think the added depth of the forward position will help him as well. Adding Okposo and getting Ennis back, plus I think Bailey could make the team. A 3rd line of Moulson-Girgensons-Bailey would work for me.

Anyone catch the prospects game last night? Sabres lost 4-3 but the big stories looked like Nylander, Baptiste, Bailey.

Nylander apparently looked "extra sloppy" in the 1st period and played better the latter 2 periods. He had a goal, though, which is nice. From what I've heard of him in the last few days I think he's looking like more of a long shot for the team this year. Saw a quote, and I'll try to find it, basically saying that his skill is there but he needs to work harder.

The opposite goes for Bailey, where everything I hear about him makes it sound as though he'll start in the NHL, and if he doesn't start he'll at least be up with the first forward injury. He's the prospect I have the highest hopes for. He also had a goal last night and almost had a second.

Baptiste, as well, played well in this tournament. He had a hat trick in the first game and 2 assists yesterday for 5 points in 2 games. That's good to see from a guy who some in Rochester said they expected to be a career AHLer. That might still be the case and I don't know enough to say one way or the other but he seems to be trending up.

I didn't watch the game so this is all second hand, did anyone go that can add any insight?

Baptiste got away from his game last year I think (didn't get to watch much, but when I did, he was invisible.). He's at his best when he's using his speed to disrupt the opposition. He didn't do that last year. He was most definitely using that speed yesterday. Had a few real good opportunities but couldn't bury them, but you can see the light seems to have clicked back on.

I'm not surprised he struggled last year, as he seems to need time to adjust to the game at the higher level. His first Junior year was fairly underwhelming and then he took off after that. I hope the same happens for him in Rochester this year.

He's either not from toronto or has managed to avoid all contact with the downtown area. Which I admit is impressive.

I cant get over that shot from Nylander

Give him a full year in the A then watch him make Kane irrelevant

All depends on Ennis. If Ennis can be a top 6F, then Kane becomes expendable. Without Enzo, Nylander and Kane might not cross paths...one would have to lose a top 6 job for that to happen. Foligno, Moulson and D-Lo aren't doing that.

I dunno. I think they want to move him, but they just cant because there's literally nobody else for that role. As soon as you add someone there like Nylander you no longer have to put up with him. They'll probably add to the forward group either way next off season.

"Sabres fans are obsessed with the leafs, they have an inferiority complex. They want so badly to be relevant they'll always bring themselves up on our boards. It's sad really"
