I just love the Giroux trade discussions that ignore the fact he has an NMC.
I wonder if Detroit wish they traded Yzerman when was 28 and past his prime. - Feanor
I would be willing to bet that most/if not all/ players with a MNC would be willing to waive if asked. Most would view it as no longer being wanted by the team and they would want to go to a team that wants them. IMO

Not really, players want stability. G isn't Hartnell who was hated by the coach in place. G is supposed to be liked by Hakstol and vice versa. So there would really have to be some other issue to get him to waive his clause. |

I would love to hear opinions on the following.
Since, I believe, the good young defensemen and goaltenders in our system will not be hitting their prime productive years for quite a few years/if at all, I'm afraid that Giroux and Voracek will be past theirs. If possible, I would be all for a Giroux for Gaureadu type move? Same with a Jake for ? type move? Get some younger offensive players to 'grow up' with our prospects.
What say y'all? - bsw31usa
That is not the way it is going to work. They are drafting and developing talent not trading talent for younger talent. The key pieces of skill and leadership will stay and help usher in a new era of Flyers players and as the defense matures there is plenty of time to figure out star players on offense. They can make those trades to supplement the team when they have a surplus of talent at other positions, not when they are starving for it. |

Getzlaf and Perry seem to continue to produce at 31.
The only way I am moving Giroux now is if I am getting a package that you can't say no to. It would have to be a complete win on the Flyers side.

Wayne Simmonds will be traded before G and Jake if any of the three are moved in future years imo. If he continues to elevate his game and repeats a 30 goal season, I'm not entirely sure we'd be able to afford his deserved raise after 18-19 season |

Umm ah Richards for Simmonds and Schenn, Carter for Jake, Coots, etc. How'd they work out for us? |

Richards deal was damn good. Especially with the decline. You saw signs of real issues while he was even with the Flyers.
I cant lean one way or another on the Carter move. I do think he doesn't become the player he is today if he stays in Philadelphia. The trade was a wake-up call. |

Those deals were more about the culture of the team and the questionable leadership of the Flyers. Unless you think that management has issues with Giroux and Voracek. |
