I'm not going to tell someone what they can and can't do, or how to spend their money, but since they're so expensive, do you really need to buy the beers to enjoy the game? - jmatchett383
I usually buy one 24 oz and nurse it until the middle of the game.
And I've been to quite a few that I just had Mt Dew or Iced tea. |

I only had a few American beers when I went to Toronto last year due to figuring I was in Canada so I should drink Canadian beers until I could barely stand then switch up to American stuff I could drink like water. Well let's just say after night one the plan was altered a bit.

That APV difference is a problem if you're not used to it. I used to love Canadian beers once upon a time.

At Flyers games, when you buy a beer in the stands, they only offer those larger 22 or 24 oz beers. They get warm on me and I end up wasting some of it. |

I think I drank a Miller Lite up there that was over 5% alcohol by vol. It hurt after a few Molson XXX. |

I'm OK with warm beer as I know it's served that way in most European countries. When I worked for GE, we had an office in the London suburbs and when those employees came over here I was the only one who could handle the warm Guiness they liked. |

Then, I'd be dead, because Miller Lite is my beer of choice. |

The Molson XXX was 7.2 so after 3 of those I needed to step down I thought Miller Lite was a safe choice. I was WRONG! |

I would love to hear opinions on the following.
Since, I believe, the good young defensemen and goaltenders in our system will not be hitting their prime productive years for quite a few years/if at all, I'm afraid that Giroux and Voracek will be past theirs. If possible, I would be all for a Giroux for Gaureadu type move? Same with a Jake for ? type move? Get some younger offensive players to 'grow up' with our prospects.
What say y'all? |

Calgary would want some prospect along with G for Gaudreau. So I'm thinking it's not really a good move.

The price for prying a guy like Gaudreau/Johansen/Johnson/Kuznetsov/etc. would come at a great cost because teams know they are a prized commodity. If Calgary would do Giroux for Gaudreau, I'd drive Giroux there as much as I like Giroux. More like it, it would be Giroux, one of our prized D prospects, and a 1st. For that price, no thank you.
Both the Sharks and Penguins just showed that you can win with vets. |

Not sure if there was a roster lock. - dragonoffrost
The roster lock was 9/16, after the warmup games. |

This been the concern of a few people I think. Its also a valid one.
The Flyers have been able to find star forwards in later rounds so hopefully that continues. The days of relying on FA should be dead.
I do think that a trade should be explored for any player if it makes the team better long term, because quite frankly they have a rats ass chance at winning anything anytime soon.
Although I do think there is also validity to having one core help transition the next one in so to speak. Not sure there is really a right answer. |

Up in Canada for the world cup. Couple things I've seen.
Trouba has so much opportunity in his game. I don't get the love for him. Watching him play live was painful. Ghost was in the dog house until north America needed offense than McLellan finally let ghost fly. Murray all 4 goals looked like garbage goals. The stadium was furious. Russia represented well but north America is the fan favorites around here. North America gear is rivaling Canadian.
Europe verse czech. Europe doesn't even look like they care most of the game than just decide to try when they need a goal. See if that changes verse Canada.
Overall the event has been a ton of fun. Ton of alumni and hall of famers around. The crowd has been great. My only complaint is 13.25$ for beer. The stadium is a lot smaller. The seats are tighter. The bathrooms have half the urinals and lines are insanely long. Things like this are definitely new to me. Stadium square footage wise looks baby sized compared to wells fargo. The fan village is fun and there's a ton of alumni around. So far I met guys like weight Bondra and than caught the entire czech team and burns/Thornton for canada.
Rumor up here is giroux tweaked his back. - Tfaehner

It's something to think about but also it's not like Voracek and Giroux are that old. Yes they will probably be hitting 29 and 30 when a lot of the prospects are here. But you still need good veterans to help lead.
Also you have to get back something substantial if your moving Giroux or Voracek. But looking at some of the bigger name guys moved....how many really got a solid returm of a player like Goudreau like you suggest?
Rangers got Nash and Columbus got Dubinsky, Anisimov(then used to get Saad), Erixon and 1st rounder. Not really anyone in Goudreau type skills.
I don't think you get back the real return you think when moving some of the high priced, top guys than you think. Usually the best thing included in the deal is high end first round picks or multiple picks.
The one guy on the team I think hold the most value based on skills and contract is Simmonds. I think teams would love to add him and especially at the deal he is on. He might actually get you better value in return compared to Giroux

I just love the Giroux trade discussions that ignore the fact he has an NMC.
I wonder if Detroit wish they traded Yzerman when was 28 and past his prime. |

The Flyers quite honestly need star power. For years, outside of Giroux its been who?
Voracek? An aging Timonen?
After G its a bunch of secondary turds. Need some more Kate Upton and less Hilary Swank. |

Draisaitl.
You want a young guy that can actually be a star center this team needs?
God forbid though, he is over 6 foot and 200 pounds +. Skilled guys are not allowed to be big on the Flyers. |
