These plays you mention are a rare thing. I think that diving play comes from trying to make an impression and keep a job. Not saying NHL players are lazy but I think those kinds of plays fade.

of course THAT type of incredible play is rare. but it's not the only time we saw great eye-hand coordination from him. he's a gifted athlete, with real skill, in my opinion. i have ZERO belief that kind of play has anything do with trying to make an impression and keeping a job. that's an athlete who's hard wired to compete doing whatever it takes to make a play. couldn't disagree with you more.
