I doubt Claude Giroux or Ron Hextall are losing sleep because of what people are thinking.

Personally, I hope Provorov and Konecny make the team.

Also put Voracek back on the damn right side where he belongs and has done his best. Was moronic to move him to the left after a breakout season on the right wing.

Send Read out to the pasture.

Soft, slow, and a warm body. That exciting "two way contributor". Where have we seen this before.

I think I pretty clearly stated his growth would not be stunted and nothing bad would happen long term. It's simply, if and only if he's up to the task, the rate of learning he would achieve in the NHL dwarfs that of juniors, where he already is at the requisite "dominant" level. Going into next year, Provorov with a year under his belt vs. being a rookie is a massive difference. I simply don't see the argument that kids like Werenski and Hanifin have done enough and are at such a different level to be regular NHL'ers and Provorov has and is not.

came up in sarcasm font on my screen. I am in general agreement with you on the process of it all, but I don't know how much another year of junior

I think that both of those situations are different though with regards to team and fan expectations. But given the overall landscape of our defensive prospects...if they deem him physically and mentally ready, it would be beneficial to begin to phase them in now

I also think he is kind of injury prone and doesnt have the same consistent jump he has early in his career. He is still the best they got.

Also nice to see Bellemare play and contribute. Like him.

Sadly he will be benched before VDV of it ever came down to it.

Read has had two subpar seasons, but I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

Since Giroux became a full time NHL player in the 09/10 season, which is 7 NHL seasons, Giroux has missed a grand total of 10 regular season games. So how is he kind of injury prone?

Yes, it was just 2 subpar seasons following 3 good ones.

However, there are 2 reasons for concern:
1) The drop-off was pretty steep, going from averaging 24 G/82 GP to 10 G/82 GP. That's pretty significant
2) One of his main assets, his speed, seemed to be lacking. I gave him a pass due to injuries 2 years ago, but he was supposedly 100% last year.

I'm hoping he can bounce back, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. For his contract, he needs to produce more offensively.

new players will show up, as one of my english teachers used to say, when "the plot demands it".

and since we're talking about rush, let's rush the kids. rush everybody. hopefully they'll bring all their glasses and skates, so that they have them. /saulrosenberg

seriously, i'd like to see some new blood right away just because the team needs "more", but if they're not ready, they're not ready. i'm a master a of patience.

i did go this past fridee...but just to a family/kids pre service dinner thing. it's pretty syrinxy over there. actually it reminds me more of the entrance to a camp, sadly. the gate is metal and modern, but with the words on top...eesh...it just doesn't quite work. freaks me out honestly.

i'm listening to the camera eye. that song rules.

There's definitely reasons for concern, I'm not just not going to write him off at this point.

Im not. But Im pretty close. It wasn't that it was a gradual drop off over three seasons (including his last good season) . It was a quick, significant drop off sustained over two full seasons.

Ill be happy if he pots 15 goals at this point. I dont think he ever sniffs 20 again. He just doesn't seem like the same player he was. And I didn't really even see glimpses for the most part.

I still think he is a good responsible player, but I dont rely on him to score goals anymore.

Just a few questions after taking in most of the conversations we've had this summer. Some I think are more silly than others but all I think are worth addressing. We all have our own thoughts and opinions, so why not?

Is Claude Giroux old by the standards of hockey right now?

Steve Mason vs Michael Neuvirth, who are you most impressed with when taking in all of their compliments within the past year?

Do you have absolute faith that Shayne Gostisbehere will become a number defenseman in the NHL?

Is Andrew MacDonald a bonafid NHL defenseman?

Is Radko Gudas an offensive defenseman?

Will the Flyers miss Ryan White or is Boyd Gordon a suitable upgrade? (Poking fun at myself a little bit I do believe we'll miss White to an extent)

1) big year for G is ahead. Then we shall see.
2) I'm in the minority...by I like Neuvirth.
3)ghost is the real deal.....I think he will grow defensively and only get better.
4)Macdonald is a fringe NHL d man at this point....better then AHL . A 2 million dollar talent making 5 million a year.
5)no he is not
6) won't miss White....too many forwards already at his talent level.

Good questions though.

I think Read is still a decent player, but hasn't been anywhere near the player he was in his first 3 seasons. The biggest issue will be if he doesn't find his offensive game again, even though he will be a reliable player away from the puck, and on the PK, he won't be worth his cap hit, as the player he has been the last two seasons.

Old no, but certainly nearing the back end of his prime year.

I like them both. I see Mason as the guy I would choose between the two.

Do you have absolute faith that Shayne Gostisbehere will become a number defenseman in the NHL?

I assume you mean a #1 defenseman? No, in my opinion, he's not, and won't be a #1 defenseman. He is one of the better offensive defenseman in the NHL though.

Is Andrew MacDonald a bonafid NHL defenseman?

- SuperSchennBros

Absolutely. Still capable of filling a top 4, second pairing role, and providing reliable minutes in the NHL.

Is Radko Gudas an offensive defenseman?

- SuperSchennBros

Of course not. He's a defensive defenseman, who is decent with the puck.

Will the Flyers miss Ryan White or is Boyd Gordon a suitable upgrade? (Poking fun at myself a little bit I do believe we'll miss White to an extent)

I don't think they'll miss White at all. I like the Gordon signing.
