I expect this team to be fighting for a playoff spot all season anything less and it's an epic fail.
- dadeadhead

I agree. They absolutely need to be.

There is talent here now. Talent with experience.

If we fail because Kane couldn't stay healthy, or out of the news, or Lehner falls on his face (I don't think that's likely) or Okposo fails, or the blue line is a mess, it's on Murray.

If our superstar gets hurt, or our #1D, that's a valid excuse

I still wonder if he fires bylsma to save his own job. Especially if they struggle early on.

I agree with all of this. I don't that they'll be in position for anything higher than 7th or 8th, but I expect them to be in the thick of things when all is said and done. Hopefully I'm wrong and they perform even better than that though.

Had to go with something I'd never spend money on.

It was that or a Teal Seals Meloche.

I flipped a coin.

Agreed. With Eichel and Reinhart having a year under there belts as pros, this is the year we should expect a big jump and start controlling games against weaker teams

I don't think we will be considered an easy 2pts from the better teams of the league.

this is why I want the coach to press them to get to 4 goals a game

I really feel this team is better constructed for 4-3 games than 2-1 games

My fear is they play conservative

I really hope not . 4 goals every game by the Sabres would be a win most of the time .

Does anyone really play that way anymore? Seems coaches these days frown on that super offensive style of play.

Then I'll say it.

There is a big difference between Moulson having a down year at this point in his career than Girgensons having one.

Moulson is 32 and has played 8 full NHL seasons.

Girgensons is 22 and has play 4.

Forgive me if those numbers are not 100% accurate, but I think you get the point.

In this league a four year pro is a veteran.

The team improved by 29 points, despite having the youngest roster in the NHL and losing Bogo, Lehner and Ennis for major parts of the season and we're talking about possible firing the coach and GM if we struggle early on. Take 2 please........

I didn't say it was justified. Im just saying I wonder if Murray would do that knowing his job is on the line too. The points you drop early on can be the difference between 9th and 8th.

Girgensons down year is something to be concerned with, especially going into a contract year, but I would not say it is over for him.

He thrived on the dump and chase game, as well as the amount of ice time he had (last year around 15 mins per game, years before more like 20 mins per game), so the concerns with him are if he can play a system.

As a strong penalty killer and better than average 3rd line center, I would like him to stick around for a while, unless he can be packaged with something to get a true top 6 forward or top 2 d-man.

I can see him being wanted across the league, but what is his value and are we will to accept that value.
