That game was crazy fun last night
- Buffalo--Sabres

It actually gives me a bit of concern for the Sabres.

What we saw last night is a reinforcement of what the Pens showed in the Cup last year. Speed kills. Not Ennis speed. Not Briere speed. Eichel,Kane, etc speed.

Speed creates a different kind of pressure than big hits do: its an oppressive harassing pressure in all three zones. It takes away time to think, it takes away time to react, and it takes away confidence.

What Murray has been building is "heavy," to use his word. We don't have a ton of speed. The guys who are our core going forward are skilled, and tenacious, and I think we'all be good, but I think we need more speed.

Ennis could be more described as a quick skater vs fast . But then again , it's been a while since we have seen him skate.

They specifically mentioned in the broadcast though that the Pens aren't the fastest team, but they play the game at a fast pace. It helps to have fast skaters, and we do have a few of them, but the players need to make quick, decisive actions with the puck. Indecision is killer in this game, especially against the top tier teams.

I enjoyed watching it. Though the announcers leave a lot to be desired. I don't know how many times they said "I don't think the fans understand (insert issue here)"

We understand just fine.

- HonkFortheGoose

Keep in mind, they're talking to a lot of ESPN watchers who likely haven't seen hockey in a long time.

The also said "vintage McDavid" which I thought was pretty weird. He's what 19?

I have said this for a while. We need some burners.

It's why I would have given Boedker a deal.

That's all fine and well. I don't mind them explaining things so that people know what's going on. But please don't insult everyone's intelligence by repeating over and over that the fans don't understand.

If they aren't the fastest, they are close.

Crosby, Hagelin, Kessel, Letang, Rust, Sheary, even Daley are all high speed players.

Malkin is also a great skater for a 6'3 player

I laughed when they drafted that bum from Ohio State, he's another clip board holder like EJ.

Big difference between a 1st round pick and a 4th round flier. Chances are he amounts to nothing BUT he has a sick arm.

Yep - all the young guns were amazing, Eichel included. Risto didn't have his best game, but, played well in the 3rd.

Agreed, but some of the younger kid have a lot of speed: Guhle, Nylander and even Risto. I think GMTM is doing a pretty good job of building.

Finland got nasty in the 3rd, trying to intimidate NA, but, they held up pretty well to that. Canada would try the same tactic and obviously has more skill. Would be an interesting game. Tonights game is the true test as it would be very good for NA to finish first in the group and avoid Canada until the finals (if Canada wins their group, which I assume they will).
